whining 1993 s13 auto

I hadn't driven the car in a while and one day I drive it for about a mile and the ps pump started whining. I bought some ps fluid and drove home and then the it seemed like the engine was laboring then the rpm's would spike between shifts. I have only put about 1500 of the 123k.

I drove the car again today and when I drove it the 3-4 shift revs high and hunts for 4th gear. Could the problem be with the automatic trans making the noise even while in park? Might this mean the transmission is going out?
