The engine in my 04' QX56 has been more or less fantastic and I've not heard of or had issues with a stretched timing chain. The transmission, on the other hand, is a huge POS. I'm on my 3rd tranny in 135K miles. Just paid $4700+ to rebuild the transmission that I had installed at 72k miles, which was a rebuilt unit that cost me $3200 back then. My instrument cluster has had reoccuring issues, too. Had the entire unit replaced at 40k miles, then had that unit rebuilt at like 102k miles, then again at 135k miles. I've taken care of most/all of the other issues that plagued this vehicle like IPDM, hairline cracked headers, tranny pressure hoses blown off, etc, etc. I've owned it for 11.5 years and I still love driving it. Now if I can just evict the rat that likes to sit on/crap on the top of my engine, I'd still be a happy camper with choosing this truck.
