The '04 was the first year of this model, which is the one I have, and it has some issues. I would focus on the later model years if you can swing it. My '04 is on it's 3rd transmission with 140K on the odometer. To me, that is absolutely unacceptable. This model year and other later years had unreliable IPDMs, crack-prone exhaust headers, bad HVAC blend door actuators, faulty third brake light microprocessors, crap front shocks and all 4 brake rotors (at least the initial rotors back then, they've come out with better ones since), the list goes on and on. I have had all of these issues and have fixed many of them myself so it's been manageable from a cost perspective, but if you're someone who will need to take it to a mechanic for everything, focus on the newest year you can afford where some of these issues may have already been addressed by Infiniti. The upside with mine is the engine is pretty great ...still running strong and has never leaked oil in the 12 years I've owned it.
