which motor swap would you guys recommend? iam debating between a rb20 or sr20.. any input would be appreciated. what are common problems with both motors? what do most people spend normal on these swaps? 2500?

Neither is more cost-effective than the other. RB stuff is less plentiful, but less in demand... the cost differences will balance out.

I've rarely seen anyone get away with spending $2500 for ANY swap (unless the motor is a turd and the swap is ghetto).

well idk about that, ill have to disagree with you on the whole 2500.. but thats only if you come across the right deal. ive been hearing the rbs are way harder to swap than sr20's?

You're welcome to disagree, but after 10 years in the Nissan community, and multiple swapped cars, I'm not making this up. ;)

As far as "which is harder", if you've been "hearing" something, then you need to question that source, and make them explain, in detail, why that's the case. If they can't, they're no help to you. There's a lot of "magazine tuners" out there who are just as lost as you are, but they love to give advice - it's usually wrong.

The forums here (240sx.org) have been around since 1997. There's a LOT of info. Good luck! :)

thanks for the info man, hey if someone can prove there side iam not one to act like i know everything. iam young and have much to learn, the person giving me the advice is a good freind of mine and hes been doing 240 swaps for a long time. iam just trying to soak up as much info as possable before making my mind up one which motor to put in.. but not wanting to spend 5k for a stock motor swap i dont think theres much more option besides kat or rb20.. i dont think i can even do the rb25 for 5k. :gotme

yea. if you can live with out the jdm. go KA-T.
or go SR! OR RB
it's all yours to choose. but everyone here understands. a motor is a big deal.
just make a parts list, price everything. compare between motors. etc etc.

and i'm sure you will be doing the work yourself. so any route you go, it'll be a great experience.

good luck yo.

I have almost $8K in my KA-T.

The engine itself is only a small part of the expense. People forget the other stuff, and it adds up - FAST.

If I had it to do over again, I'd go LSx and save a load of $.
