Which would be safer?

Ok so i have sort of an interesting dillema, i hope I am making this harder than it has to be..

Right now I have on the front of my Q 225-45-18 95W Nitto 555 tires..... However, up in my attic I have a set of Michelin Pilot Sport 245-40-18 93W that im planning to put on the Q shortly...

I think most people would agree the Michelin pilot sport is a better tire. I bought the tires slightly used and it has about 2000 miles on it maybe, roughly the same as my nitto's have...

The LB rating for 93 is 1433lbs, 95 is 1521... 88lbs/tire...

So heres my question. Would you think itd be safter to keep the nittos on there, which are surely the inferior tire, but have the higher load rating, or put the michelins on with the lower load rating... in other words, do you think running the 88 less pounds per tire would really make a difference...

Note that I will be doing some racing this summer, in auto X and things of that nature...

you know what happens when you venture out of Q land.....

anyway- i'm in a similar predicament: i don't want 245/45/18's because too tall, i'm leery of 245/40 due to harshness.

225/45 is just about the right diameter.... you can get new M500s in 225/45 with a 95w for $142/ea.

btw, the new ps2 in 245/40 can be had with a 97y rating.

for your original question, i would err on the high side of load rating--but then life is always about trades.
