OK Im about to buy a 92 240sx(s13) and I was wondering would I be better off(money & power wise) keeping the Ka and stocking it with a aftermarket turbo or should I do the sr20det drop and work on the turbo it has. Im very intrested and Ive heard mixed replies. All togather Im sorta wanting 250-350whp so which would be a better platform to do this with?

if your gonna ask what would be better for the money, you might want to include budget. since you didn't i will conclude you haven't got one meaning your either rich or poor.

as for the best thing for the money, i will give you the answer i give everyone who hasn't had their car for long. spend it on hpde's, auto-x and any other type of closed circuit driving where you can push your car to the edge. a well driven car will always beat the more powerful car with an in-experienced driver who doesn't know how to handle a car at the limits.

get the car, then learn it inside and out, then figure out what you want to do

Fuel setup gonna be expensive.

Injectors 270Emanage Ultimate 470Tune 200MAF 100

I think this is why I'm still stuck with 7 psi LOL

In some way, dropping the SR is cheaper than modding KA. but not always.

Not totally true.

SAFC-2 - $250440cc inj - $200 ( used ) + $50 ( cleaned )MAF - ( well all depends on the turbo and airflow )

You can save money if you can find someone with a wideband and do some street tuning.

Well it all depends on if I sell my Maxima(which I am Trying to do). price would be any were from 3k-5k(after I buy the 240sx) to spend on eaither the drop or the turbo set up and all my other mods(suspension, transmission, exhaust, ect). Does that help at all.

We have a general rule against KA-T vs. SR debates. There are literally hundreds of threads in our archives about this subject, and all kinds of opinion on the two all over the boards. I very much doubt that there is much that can be added to what is already easially accessable through a search. Still, I'll let this go until it gets stupid (as most KA/SR threads invariably do).

This question has been asked literally DOZENS of times It's maddening reading the same frigging questions day in and day out after they've been beat to death. If you really wanted to know the answer, you'd do some conscientious searching.

Not to mention, if you're asking the question "what's the cheapest possible way to get my car turbocharged (this question is also asked on average once a day)" you already have the COMPLETELY wrong mentality about turbocharging a car.

if you know nothing about turboing a car, then id say go with teh SR...but if you have some turbo knowledge about piecing your own kit together with quality parts go with the KAT which will be cheaper but a little more thinking is involved...i pieced my kit together for about a grand...grant it im not making 300whp, but i am making about 210 at 7psi...more than a stock sr20

t25 ~ $100370cc injectors ~ $50SSAC mani ~ 160Blitz downpipe ~ 130s13 SMIC ~ 60n60 maf ~ 20enthalpy ecu 500
