Well I'm about to pick up a new transmission for my 240, my 5-speed is just causing too many problems. So this is my dilemma... there is a 5spd with 57k on it that I can get for $275.00 shipped, and there is a 5spd with 85k on it that I can get for $200, local pickup. Both are supposedly in excellent shape and working perfectly.

So my question is this... is it worth it to pay an extra $75 for almost 30k less miles? I won't be able to look at the $275 one, either, but if it's in good shape...

Help me decide!

Personally I would like to see the transmission before I buy it... and also do you have any idea of how the previous owner may have treated them? Because 57k hard miles vs. 85k light miles I'd pick the 85k personally

Tough choice..If you can't tell how either was treated previously, it'll be hard to tell which is the better deal. Since I'm cheap and like to get things as soon as possible, chances are I'd opt for the local pickup one.

One thing i have learned, never trust the listed milage. Add 30-40,000 miles to each transmission unless the seller has proof of milage.

I saw a KA for sale with "90,000 miles" on it, but i know for a fact it had more than 140,000 miles on it. Take that example for what it is worth.
