i currently have a gt35r 63ar i was about to put onto a top mount manifold on my rb25. i have all the supporting mods needed to handle the turbo (built internals, ic, piping, greddy intake, power fc, ect.) the turbine housing is a v-banded undivided t3. the mani is a divided t4 and i was gonna use an adapter plate. but i just got an offer from a friend that is mighty tempting. he's selling a gt42r. i could actually sell the 35t for more then i'm getting the 42 for. i'm not sure of the ar yet but it is a divided t4 so would match the many perfect. he says the turbo is good to over 800hp. my goals are only around 500 or so. i don't really need more then that on a street car......so question is this. is the 42r too big for what i want?

what would you do? i'm leaning towards jsut keeping the 35r cause it'll be very streetable, but how hard am i gonna have to push it to get 500 whp? where the 42r would make it on light load which is always easier on all parts involved. would just like everyone elses input on this.

Depending on a lot of things like cam, headwork, exhaust housing, etc., you'll probably need to be over 1.5 bar to make 500rwhp with a that GT35r (also depends a lot on the dyno). For your goals though, I'd keep the 35r. I would take the 42, but I can never get enough power.
