i need to pick out a turbo size for an rb25det i'm building. i'm building this motor for low-end torque. My goal is something that can spool around 3500 rpm and make around 350-375 peak whp. i planned on an ihi rx-6 but my budget might restrict me from that. what size hks turbo would be good for my goals. the motor is going in a zenki 240.

Why dont you stick with a garrett turbo from someone like Precision. As long as its a T3 or a T3/T4 it will bolt right up. Why do you only want to make 350-375 but mad torque? Cuz you can make good power down low and have it hold all the way up.

HKS turbos aren't exactly cheap either...

The GT series turbos are great for low-end response (since they're ball-bearing) and they produce good high-end power as well. GT2530, 2540, or even a 2835 would be great for your purposes. Although, I don't know what type of flange they use (might be a T25/28 flange), and they *are* pretty pricey.

As far as the ones you mentioned, I wouldn't go with anything smaller than the GT2835. If you are dead set on a HKS turbo, then go with something like a GT3037 with a ~.63 A/R turbine. There was a guy pushing that kind of power with that setup with the same spool you are speaking of on the Skylines Downunder forum "Steve," but he switched out to a ~.83 turbine and says he will never go back.

what greddy sizes are good. i'm not the bright when it comes to turbos and the rb25 clip i just bought has no turbo on it. Don't small exhaust housing on turbos give good low end? how much boost can these hks and greddy turbos handle?

Will these turbos do around 400-450rwhp at about 18psi? I'm also interested in low end turbos for rb25dets. I want to know what kind of setup will produce 450rwhp real fast, before 4500rpms. Let's get some more input guys! :D

Greddy turbos are out of the question unless you are planning on getting a new manifold.

Overall, I would suggest a good Garrett T3/T4 hybrid as well. There's a MILLION to choose from in pretty much any combination A/R ratio you could dream of, brand new or used, on Ebay or elsewhere. You won't need a new manifold like you will with a Trust turbo, and you won't break the bank like you will with an HKS kit.
