hey guys I am ready to upgrade my turbo to a nice top mount, external wastegate setup. However after weeks of searching I am still stuck and unsure of which turbo would be the best route to go. My mods with the turbo would be a Greddy intake manifold, 720cc injectors, HKS step 1 264 cams and a full race turbo manifold along with a tial 38mm wastegate..My goals are preferably atleast 450rwhp on pump gas without insane turbo lag. However I am unsure of how all the turbos out there on the market spool and what there spool times are..I am thinking a .70 a/r turbine housing would be the best size on this setup however I just would like to have everybodys opinion..like i said i want to pick the absolute best turbo for my goals. Thanks in advance

GT3076R is the perfect turbo for your goals. Spool and top end is great for both street and strip. The ported shroud sounds like a jet taking off too. Here is a video of one in action on our dyno:

Thats awesome. Does sound like a jet. And ive never seen a turbo going right into the intercooler like that.

Thanks for the opinions guys... Synapse Motorsport do you have an aim screen name? ya that turbo does sound nice I was actually looking at it early today and the past few weeks..where did you order it from? Also i am starting to second guess the cams i am running..I dont think they will make 450hp..too small imo..so i guess i would just go with the turbo of my choice and save up for cams with a higer lift and duration along with springs and retainers..synapse what was the spool time on that like? as far as hitting boost and then full boost and exactly how many psi was the full set at? thanks man let me know

That turbo had the .63 a/r we made 407 @15 psi, it is good for about 500whp in that housing and 550 with the .82

oh one other thing, shot for stage 2 cams, maybe 3. stage 2 should be good for about 420 or so.

yes i decided to just stick with the step 1's for now on my stock valvetrain with the greddy intake plenum and possibly the 3076r..I just got done talking to the owner of synapse motorsport..we had a long convo but i didnt even get his name lol..but he told me all about that turbo and it seems it would be the best choice..but i have a p&p head sitting in my room with crower springs and retainers already installed but what im gonna do is just run the setup i just said and then save up for tomei 270's and install that head..by the way the owner of synapse is a great guy if you need any garrett or tial products hit him up!!!
