So i was looking at exhausts and wondering one last thing about true dual exhausts, Which is better a true duel exhaust that has all seperate parts that dont really touch eachother and go straight along the whole car such as a the injen one which is the first picture below, or a true dual exhaust that goes all the way back but then curbs into two mufflers that are welded together such as the stillen system which is the second picture below........wouldnt that extra curb ruin the flow and result in a loss of horse power? Or is it such a little difference that it doesnt really matter?

I think you'd be much better off with a straight through true dual exhaust as opposed to one with more bends. Less restriction is good

I still like the HKS, but I'm also looking at altered atmosphere.

I think the most straight through one is the altered atmosphere exhaust. The only thing I didn't like is from the one I heard on a G35 it sounded a little whinney in the upper rpm's.

The muffler layout for each systyem is likely decided mostly by space requirements for the size of muffler each manufacturer wishes to use. Stillen's exhaust is widely accepted to have the quietest sound while outputting the most power overall. You'll notice they appear to have some rather large mufflers in there compared to other systems. The piping diameter and layout doesn't appear to present any major problems for flow over any other systems. The biggest difference you'll see is the x-pipe. I don't know of any exhaust that uses one. I would speculate it costs a lot to make, and increases the overall packaging size. That said, I'd also speculate, it provides some additional scavenging that other exhaust designs don't enjoy (at least as much of it).

One last question then to anyone who knows about The Stillen true dual exhaust system, When it comes to sound i keep hearing its a quieter system. What does everyone mean by this how does it sound and do most people like it? Also does it still keep most aspects of that Z sound thats amazing?

I had the Stillen for a couple of years then switched to the HKS.

Stillen is a different sound vs. stock, but very quiet.

I wanted a "meaner" sounding exhaust and went to the HKS. I absolutely love it.

Just avoid the Borla.

I'm looking into buying 2 HKS carbon-ti mufflers and getting a custom true dual exhaust made.

That sounds cool how much do you think its gonna run you? Do you think your gonna see more than a normal horse power gain from it?

Hey thanks alot for the postings i went over and checked out your pics and videos it looks great and i like the sound of the stillen system in the videos too that must sound great when your really pushin it hard on the freeway. In your pics of the tips, are those the dual tips that are optional with the system?

I just like sleeper cars. There is just somthing about having an almost stock looking car that can make a 996 look slow that is appealing to me. And since I live in florida having a flashy car means you get pulled over more often ever since they cracked down on street racing, another plus in that reguard is that I dont continuously have those uber ricers trying to race all the time when all I want to do is go to the store for some milk.

Good luck with that. Even in my stock Z I still get ricers trying to race me. Stupid V6 mustangs.

O ya that makes sence i know exactly what you mean. I still get alot of ricers thinking that racing me would actually be a race too lol gets annoying, like little bugs.
