yes, it belongs in a museum. I love Denon, however I would switch to Rotel, Proceed, Mark Levinson, or McIntosh. What kind of speakers do you use?

let's just say i was glad to sell it... maybe it was just the deck i had (DX515), but found that sound quality sucked, the stupid Z-ENHANCER should be called S-EHANCER (shiiit-enhancer), and it had a tough time reading cd's of all types, even the BRAND NEW MATT GOOD CD that i bought!!

so ya... :pukeCLARION

being the sick lover of accurate music reproduction that i am, M&K fronts, surrounds, and one very mean sub sit in my house. I'm sure there's better stuff out there(Martin Logan, drool), but this suits me just fine for now. I already owe my soul to the local Magnolia Hi-Fi.

For whatever car i drive, my guy at Car Toys sets me straight with MBQuart highs/mids and JL subs. PhoenixGold or Precision Power are my amps of choice. Again, opinions vary, but this is what I've had good luck with. Good sound is expensive.

At home I use a Yamaha Receiver with Paradigm speakers. The system sounds excellent. Sometimes when watching a movie, I turn to look behind because I think the noise is something outside and its just the sound effects from the movie. Sometimes its quite scary how realistic it gets.

I used to have a yamaha setup in the spare room probably about 3 or 4 years ago. The overpriced dvd changer (at the time, retail was around $800) started acting up and then decided not to work at all. I was unimpressed with the overall quality of yamaha components, but was pleased with the power levels and options of their high end receivers.

Pioneer P9 combo, Eclipse 8053, Alpine 7990. Id go with any one of these. The Denon headunits are great also, excellent SQ.

I just purchased an Eclipse 3403. Its a basic model, but it plays mp3s and it should be pretty clean.

Sorry about the late response, i have been in Minnesota for the Big Ten Conference Track& Field Championships. Yeah, im a fan of Paradigm speakers. RepoMan (my brother) has a set of them and they are wicked. He has my old Yamaha reciever. I have all B&W speakers (CDM NT line) Denon reciever, dvd player, and touchscreen remote. Love em. I just love it when higher end home audio companies produce car audio. Nak, McIntosh, Denon... the list goes on.

The Denon Z1 is a great deck, excellent SQ ... the Pioneer P Combo is another great choice, I wish we could get their ODR equipment though. And can't leave the Alpine F#1 out either. IMO the Denon Tops the chart. I have heard numerous setups in IASCA Competitions ... Of course some of the Old timers in the game are still using decks like the Clarion 9255, Alpine 7949, and Macintosh. It all just comes down to, how much are you willing to pay, what features you want, what kind of styling do you like.

F.Y.I. - I have been an IASCA SQ Judge for the past 5 years.
