if you HAD to get an intake, then i'd say the injen cause of the piping. or just modify your stock one :P.

to me, buying intake setups are a waste of money. might as well go straight for the turbo. i dont see the need to burn off some money that will only hinder you from gettin the turbo sooner

werd...just roll stock for now...the puny mods wont do anything in the long run...soon you'll be seeing your 3" intake piping as a necessity, not a performance mod :)

injen... i have it and its the BEST. Use a k&n filter with it though. easier to re-oil and clean it.

apexi does claim their apexi to be pretty good and I'd like to think that way after doing some research about it.

The extra piping you get from ingen, although it's smooth and design to have a positive air flow but once your engine bay heat up you might* be sucking up warmer up than stock intake arm because the material is metal but I am not too sure about that

honestly I don't think an intake worth more than 100$ so I don't think I'll ever get one especially not the 200$ one from injen. but for 50$ I'd get that apexi filter again on my 240sx (had it on my integra)... what do they call it? air charger? dry charger? forgot

check this out too, different from what I saw before but this is pretty cool too

i like my injen. it sounds pretty cool, as well as giving your engine bay a little bling.

Thanks for the posts, heres the thing, considering that I probably wont be getting a turbo for the ka within the next year &1/2 because I would have to rebuild and of course buy the turbo and such, Im thinking that getting an intake would be a good course of action for the time being. As for the bling of the injen, thats cool and all but I have smog happy cops running around here handing out ref tickets like non-other, sooo... Apexi sounds more appealing, until I see that I could get a good deal on the injen. Thnx luke, I will email you.

you can always wrap the intake pipe with some heat wrap if you dont like the heat where it goes over the radiator, but the cold air extension available for the injen makes up for it.

for those of you who said injen I really hope you've tried apexi filter before you said that...

as for heat wrap on the intake, I read that it will eventually stink up if you use the bandage method... (not sure on the material used on that one) but it will "eventually" get hot enough to heat the air traveling through the intake tube.

I personally don't want to risk my car with a cold air intake, even if it's an extention, you'll never know when a puddle of water might appear :P

Don't get me wrong, I am sure injen makes great intakes, I would have gotten that on my integra if I didn't find comptech icebox for cheap... I just think that apexi filter ($70) have a better horse power per dollar gain over injen intake ($200)

a puddle would not even be a problem unless you want to go driving in 1 foot of water somewhere. really only an issue if you live near the mississippi river or another flood prone area.

I'm a pu-ssy! well actually I'm what I eat ;)

Like I said, I'm just scared. I heard story where light rain, yes... LIGHT RAIN managed to hydrolock a car while it was idling in the parking lot when he's standing next to it for a smoke. I don't know whether the story is true but this photos and many more forbid me to get a cold air

maybe with a little of jb weld you can fix that ?

really? scary...But you could put your intake cone in the wheel well behind the fender liner and avoid all the problems. (right where the hole for that black plastic box comes through) you might have to cut the extension a little, but thats where ive got mine and heavy rain does not enter my filter or pipe.

So I take it is injen that wins this? OR Loveless can you show that the HP gain with the A'PEXI is more?

Light rain wouldn't do that at idle. Not true.

As for the piping of the injen getting hot... the air travels too fast to absorb any kind of heat.

I made an airbox for my injen to keep out the radiant heat. turned out great and I can definitly tell some difference. I even insulated it today with some radiant insualtion material. I have a thread on here about how I built it. Dont have pics of it after the insulation, but, I'll post some soon! I donlt like the injen filter at all. I think I may order an Apexi filter to use with the Injen pipe :)

I like my AEM because it replaces the intake tubing. The next filter I am going to get is the JWT popcharger or the APEXi, the APEXi has the best lab flow ratings of them all. But I think supporting JWT is a good thing since they have seriously supported the Nissan community over the years.

Ok, Thanks, Im pretty sure im gonna get the apexi cone in conjunction with the Injen piping, the only thing is, luke (see above) is keeping the injen MAF adapter, does that mean I have have to buy a new one? And if so, am I gonna need to get anything special for attatching the apexi cone?

prolly any good performance parts shop. try one of the sponsors like heavy throttle or enjuku first before going to another resource.
