You can't use a Consult to set the base timing it only reports the ecu calculated timing assuming you have set the crank timing with a light correctly first. What the Consult reads is correct assuming the base is set at 15 Deg BTDC.

It should be 15 degrees plus or minus 2 degrees Before Top Dead Center. [The timing mark at the extreme left (counter-clockwise) is zero degrees. There are lines [notches] at 5, 10, 15, and 20 degrees to the right of it.

We are having a discussion about this at the shop, does your crankshaft pulley have a more ponounced notch second from the left most if so this may be the modified crankshaft pulley/harmonic balancer [some are one way some are another way] then the deeper bigger notch is TDC.

We always study them and many times check the #1 cylinder with a special tool to measure the range of TD to find the center!

As you can well imagine 5 degrees is critical.

No, mine has only 5 evenly spaced, even depth notches. The timing was approx. 7 +/- 1/2 deg. retarded. I'm going to zip it up and make it to the test by 7 PM CDT! Thanks again, - SQUEE.

Squee - I would really wait on a verdict on this from the guys at T3 before starting that car back up! RTV likes to set up for a while before being heated anyway!

Oops... I thought you were finishing up a guide job. Good luck on getting those emissions in check.
