Yep - this is one of those polls. I'm just morbidly curious. If you do any type of track driving/autocrossing/etc, which oil do you trust? Transmission/differential/engine?

Feel free to also post up which car you track as most of us have more than one vehicle (or if you're Greg, you have like... 50 cars), and some are ballers and track more than one vehicle.

I have been a Redline guy with my 370Z, and that's mainly because the VVEL valvetrain supposedly doesn't get along over time with Mobil-1 - before that I had always been a Mobil-1 guy. I'm considering trying out Motul in the next round of changes though.

I've been running Pennzoil in my 350Z since it was new, simply because that's what my mechanic stocks. After 200+ track days, no issues.

I prefer Amsoil, but I can't justify spending that much on oil anymore. Mobil1 it is for me.

I used to be a Mobil 1 only guy, but I have been using Pennzoil Platinum for over a year now and haven't felt the need to buy anything else. If they're out of stock on Pennzoil i'll usually buy Mobil 1 or Castrol Syntec as an alternative.

Ditto, except for Castrol, Mobil 1 is always in stock otherwise.

I run Amsoil for the engine and diffs while redline is in the trans. Ace, are you buying off the shelf or a dealer for amsoil?

Probably what made me start looking at Pennzoil Platinum is because we have used it in our service vans at work for a long time. I figure it it's good enough to keep vans going for 300k+ miles then it's probably good enough for my cars.

There's nothing wrong with Mobil 1 though. I can get Pennzoil for around $5/qt through work though. It's hard to beat that deal for a quality oil.

Plus I change my oil every 5,000 miles anyways so it doesn't really make that much of a difference. I won't buy the cheapest stuff on the shelf, but I don't have to have the absolute best either.

I voted for redline, because it didn't say exactly WHAT oil... I run redline in the trans and diff in all my cars, and i have run redline in the engine.. On the G35, I get whatever synthetic is on sale, sometimes I'll score M1 for a good price, other times I'll go with NAPA synthetic or something.

The BMW gets its own special oil because it's an M car.

I wanted to try Pennzoil and once I did my engine didn't sound as loud. I even did an oil analysis once and according to BITOG members it was fantastic.

Redline go in the diff and the transmission.
Mobile 1 usually ends up in the engine, but if another full synthetic is on sale, I'm not picky. Oil usually gets changed at 3,500-4,000 miles in my cars.
Hell, I only change the oil filter once a year in the Subaru since it burns so much oil. I slap a good filter in there (M1 or K&N) and add oil as it burns off.

I use Mobil 1 Synthetic 0W-40 in my 2003 M45 every 3750 miles or so.

Whatever cheap s*** is on the shelf goes in the crankcase, Redline/Royal Purple goes in the trans and diff.

The cheap s*** has been treating me well. I pulled the valve cover off the future truck engine last night.

That reminds me, I need to get some for the trans/diff in the truck.

I used to buy through Anthony on here, but he's MIA now. Off the shelf is insane, though. No way I could do that. But when I can get a 5 qt jug of Mobil1 at walmart for $27, I can't think of anything cheaper for full synthetic.

I've used mobil 1 ever since. It's also what other high mileage owners have been recommending to me.

Mobil 1 for the cars, Motul for the bike. Cheapest place to get Mobil 1 is Costco by far. Every couple of weeks it goes on sale at the rate of 6 quarts for $26-$27 bucks. Cheaper than walmart and over time, you just save more. Mind you they only carry 5w-30 and 10w-30 for the most part so that is the only downside.

Seems like I'm the only only who uses Motul...I guess it's like insurance knowing that I'm using racing oil for track/daily.

I run Liqui Moly, but that's just because 10w60 is tough to find.

Amsoil, but my Brother-in-law is a dealer, so I get it at wholesale pricing.

Recently I switched to Amsoil and then became a dealer because why not haha.

I used to use castrol though. That Autozone bundle pack is hard to beat!

Can l switch to synthetic, in my 2012 Nissan Rogue? It had 11,500 on it when l bought it. It's next oil change wasn't supposed to be until July/Aug or 13,500 miles.
