I have a 95 240sx se that I am getting ready for the track. I have been to 4 open track days last summer, and plan on going to more this summer. Maybe even try getting into solo one.I have upgraded the brakes (300zx turbo alum. Calipers, 300zx m/c, Carbotech XP8 pads, Motul 5.1 fluid), and put 225 wide tires all around (300zx rims)Now the 240sx is fun on the track. No brake fade, and neutral handling. But it is too soft and under powered. So I am upgrading the suspension first. I have bought all the polyurethane bushing for the S14, and have decided to splurge on KW V3 coilovers. I am looking for the best handling suspension and was wondering what kind of sway bars(brand/size) people are running with a coilover that has 340lbs/in front and 230lbs/in rear spring rate. Any suggestion from people with track experience is appreciated. thanks.

Get something that has adjustable stiffness so you can fine tune the car. Whiteline or Progress.

I know that both the whiteline and progress bars are adjustable. But the Progress bars are 30mm front 24mm rear, and the whiteline bars are 27mm front 22mm rear. Should I be getting the larger bars or the smaller? I am asking because I read on here that some people are using a small bar or none at all, on the rear?

Because the whiteline and progress bars are adjustable, the thickness doesn't matter as much.

If I remember right, the only place people don't run a rear bar is for autox. Having the rear bar on the road course will add stability.

FYI, the progress bars come with better endlinks than the whiteline ones so get the progress ones if you decide to go adjustable.

FWIW, on my ITA 240SX I run the Whiteline bar on the front and the factory bar on the rear. Terminal is right the stock Whiteline links are not much; I ended up upgrading to a set of PDM Racing adjustable endlinks. You really want the rear of these cars to rotate as much as you can stand; some roll control is necessary but too stiff in the back will make the car very tail-happy. For sake of comparison, I also run 450/325 springs with Koni sport struts/shocks.

ITA240sx I am just curious how you picked your spring rates. They are about 100 lbs/in higher than what come on the KW's. Is that why you are running the stock rear sway bar? Are your springs stiff enough that you don’t need a thicker aftermarket sway bar on the rear?

The springs were the ones recommended by Ground Control, who set me up with the shocks, coilovers, springs, and camber plates. I told them the car was going to be a dedicated track car, so they went with a full race spring rate. I have heard of other 240 drivers using front springs as high as 600lbs, but I'm pretty happy with what I have.

And yes, the stiff springs are part of the reason I use the stock rear bar; I also have the rebound on the rear shocks set to almost full soft, so there is still some room to stiffen up the back if it needs it. I don't get enough track time to really play with the suspension setup a lot, but so far I'm happy with the handling. The car seems to be pretty neutral in the fast corners (I mostly run at Summit Point), with a tendency to understeer in the slower/tighter corners.
