I want to get a S15 one since its the one I like the most that has an airbag in it. Just wondering, since its supposedly a federal offense to get a steering wheel without a airbag, how bad is the punishment? Id personally rather get a cheaper one without an airbag.

ITS NOT ILLEGAL TO REMOVE THE AIR BAG AS LONG AS IT IS REPLACED WHEN THE VEHICLE IS SOLD.

really? Is this an AZ law only though? That law stands in Cali also? And the only difficult part of removing an airbag now is dealing with your insurance company correct?

Here's what I'd get: Black Racing 300mm steering wheel...

It's only $150 from Jspec and plus it's rare! Yipee!

Are you sure its not a federal offense to change tamper with an airbag? Everywhere where I look, and the people I ask all say it is. And I also hear that it can void your insurance. I hate stupid laws...

It is illegal. Does the s13 come with driver side airbag? I noticed my horn is loose so I took it off to see if I have an airbag, I dont.

I believe its 95 and up. So I think only us S14ers have this problem. Damn, and everyone keeps telling me how much better a smaller wheel is. Any smaller wheels that have an airbag?

as far as i know, it is legal, provided that the AIRBAG light in the dash cluster is illuminated, warning the driver that there is no air bag.

Go with Momo. They're a little pricey, but you definitely get what you pay for.

I dont think its illegal to remove an airbag from your vehicle. Insurance companies obviously base your rates on the safety equipment thats in the car, so they might get upset about it. The only laws I know of require all mfg to install airbags on all the cars they build, but after you buy I think your free to do what you want. This cant be too different from using a switch to turn off the passenger airbag like some cars have (and I think you can buy an aftermarket airbag switch too).
