If you don't want to complicate things, installing the a Zenki into a Zenki and installing a Kouki into a Kouki would save a LOT of trouble. I learned the hardway.

I don't get why people say the 6spd transmission is weak? I've never seen anyone break their's or complain!

The info is crap, the rumor is said for the transmission to have issues after 300ish whp. We swapped a S15 into my friends S14 and its pretty nice having the 6spd transmission AND the SpecR rear end. That thing gets sideways in a hurry and will lock up with almost no effect. As far as motors go, one isnt really better than the other IMHO, just depends on your goals and how deep your pockets are OR if you know somebody that knows someobdy, blah blah blah...

i would go S14 blacktop into an S14. A friend did a redtop into an S14, it worked ok but it always had problems.

Try to get same year. I have a OBDII S14A motor in my OBDI S14B, still trying to get the kinks out.

See I would have to disagree with not swapping a redtop SR into a S14 chassis. I did the swap into my own car using a clip I bought for a reliable source. I've never done ANY Nissan work before and I swapped the motor out of the clip(SR)out of my S14(KA) and put the SR into the S14 chassis in two days, by myself in my backyard. If you do it right the first time, you should have any kinks or problems of any kind. IF you dont know how to do the wiring, spend the $200-$300 and let someone tackle the issue for you, thats appears to be the biggest problem for most of the people swapping the redtop into a S14 chassis.

well cant someone give me some specs on the quarter mile and others for both the redtop s13 and blacktop s14. I know redtop has better low end and blacktop has better high end.

Other way around. S13 redtop/blacktop use high port design for top end, S14/S15 notchtop use low port for better low end. S13 SRs are the better choice for high HP numbers and you don't pay the extra money for VTC, which you lose if you get cams anyways.

That's not always true! My S13 SR came out of a 98 180sx and had 12k (or was it 18k) kilometers.

As for the best SR, that's up to you and what you plan on doing. If you're going all out, get an s13 black top. If you're a bolt ons kinda guy, get an s14 or better yet, and s15 sr. Don't worry about he 6-spd...it's a rumor started by Super Street a couple years ago...yes, super street...why this rumor has progressed the way it has is beyond me. I know of a few 6spd's making power that haven't had any problems...I haven't seen one failure on any board either.
