I just installed the el cheapos in the car (NGK- BKR5ES-11) to see how they will hang in there the next 20-30 miles or so.

I should have put the NGK Double Platinum PFR5-G-11which I had for 60,000 miles or so the last 4 years.

What is everyones take onthe NGK IX IRIDIUM 5KR5EIX-11 NGkLaser IRIDIUM IFR5E-11Are theses two better or worse than the PFR5-G-11and how long do they last??

I ordered from IOS eight of these buggers "INF22401-1P116". The retailed for $11 each. I don't recall exactly which NGK that is, but I think it was the double platnium tipped. It's what everyone here and IOS recommended.

Oh, and that was two years ago. I pulled them last weekend to check them out and they looked great!

Why gamble on any other plug than the factory specified one?, as my last set were in use for 133,000 miles and were still operating well when replaced due to resealing the valve covers......makes no financial sense to install plugs that either dont last as long as the valve cover seals, or plugs that outlast the valve cover seals.......as the job of resealing the valve covers{every 60-100K miles} basically includes plug change labor.....a two for one kind of deal.

Unless one does their own work. Changing plugs is a picnic, no sarcasm intended.

Not if the potato salad is already spoiled!

Little hope for any owner who does not RTFSM, the OM, the previous posts, nor even his trunk.

I find that comment interesting, especially coming from someone who just listed his Q for sale in the "Infiniti for sale" forum because you dont want the "headache" of dealing with a malfunctioning fuel injector.

Guess you got indigestion from something you ate at that sparkplug picnic?

I don't know why everyone is afraid of the spark plug job, Especially on a TCS Q. But I say go OEM because the plugs are far cheaper than the labor if your not doing it your self.

But the only hard thing about the plugs are the hose for the FIC (Fast Idle Cam). And just working in a tight space.

If my Dad trusted me I would do the job myself rather than watching the mechanics ever move while he does the job for me.

Kinda off topic but is $100 for replacing the spark plugs fair?

Problem is, the valve cover gaskets lifespan is shorter than factory plug life....so you always do both plugs and gaskets as a single job to save on duplicate labor- and unless you are young, flexible, and have a good back and want to spend 5-6 hours bent over the fender-paying to get the job done is the way to go.

$100 labor to change plugs only? Whoever does that job for that little money is nuts!

No, just getting tired of throwing my money away on a monetarily worthless slab of steel and reading your (specifically) irrelevant and often hypocritical posts. For someone who claims to have next to no mechanical experience you sure seem a bit smug!

I swapped plugs before I did my research....and ended up swapping them a second time. Go OEM.

Guess the "restoration "didn't work out? For every dollar I spend, I believe I save at least $3 - $5 in return for what I don't lose on the $60K -$ 70K I won't have to spend to replace it.

Just me, I guess.

I always wondered why a swimming pool operator{ whats that $9-11/hr} would spend what is obviously a huge percentage of their weekly take home pay on transportation costs.....the mid 70's toyota is probably a wiser choice for you.....good luck and hope you learned something. As far as my mechanical skills, they are just fine for my level of purchasing power.
