Data: Infiniti G35 (4dr), automatic…Year: 2003…121,000(miles)Local temperature and time at the moment of failure: 78 Fahrenheit – 11:45pmAll year around temp: 68 to 98 F. Caribbean Sea, Puerto Rico. I just bought the car (as –is) in an auction a couple of days ago in a great condition overall, but, no warranty.

The Incident,Getting home from work (5 miles away), I stopped to buy something and turned the car off for 10 minutes; back again, I started the car and shifted to manual, floored the gas all the way down and short sprinted only 1st and 2nd gears….after slowing down, suddenly, the car started to tremble and idle was rough. I’m an automotive technician, not an Infiniti/Nissan expert, though. I’m not working as a tech anymore, but with enough experience to know that it is working on 4 or 5 cylinders only. Service engine soon is ON. Car still runs, and looks like no mechanical parts damaged (no strange or metal sounds), though, it feels like a blown head gasket and water getting into the cylinders, but oil looks ok-No water mix (chocolate), water/coolant level is ok; exhaust fumes also normal??Please, any, not Infiniti dealer millionaire expensive ideas, are welcomed.

I'd check the spark first. Plugs and ignition coils. Plugs aren't bad...but I believe that the coils are something like $60 a piece if you find a good deal.

Hey there and Welcome to NICO!

I would recommend getting the codes read before spending money on a blind guess. That will give you an idea of what is going wrong. The coils are not a really common issue but they as all parts have a lifespan. There are many sensors or actuators that may cause this and a complete DTC scan will give you idea of what needs to be done next.

Have you changed the plugs already?

Have you been having any other complaints with driveability?

If you get it checked out keep us posted and we will be able to help you out.

After a long week waiting, I finally went to a friend’s auto repair shop. He scanned the car, and found out that #5 coil is the one giving me headaches… not working?! So, that means, probably, that the other next 5 coils are in the final chapters of their purpose in life $$$.Where can I buy Nissan electric parts without paying a lot?

sounds like i was right?!

haha

if you haven't change spark plugs you might as well do that at the same time.

Also check for the common issue with leaking valve covers while you are in there>>oil on the spark plug threads.
