hi ppl i'm having some trouble with deciding which rims i should i get. i can get either so money not being an issue. and color not either, but im leaning on the gold 513's with a machined lip. and the 522 solid gold, which i believe are somewhat similar to the volk te37's. well my style i like is those slammed old school look but i like the 522's also. so as you can see my dilemma. well hopefully i can get some input from everyone, and also like what would be a good tire size thats not super expensive and thick (i want wider kind, not bigger) and how wide of a tire could i put on a 16x8? like maybe a 9inch? idk im not a rims and tire guy which is why im making this post. thanks ppl for your all's input. :)

i would say the 522 over the 513's.... but on a coupe i think the 002's would look better...imo

i said 513s but if you got a 17 or 18 inch wheel i would say 522s.

just had the very same dillema. i went with the gold 522 but i do love the old school look as well. what color is your car? might i suggest the 513 in gunmetal with machined lip? also the rota rbs are the same style as the 513 but have a better spoke design imo.

522

225/45 would be an ideal tire width, for squared look, in case you're wondering on an 8 inch wide wheel. for stretch, you may go with on the realms of 205/45.

if you're in the NYC, i got 4 rims with 4 tires that I can let you go for 100 bucks with an additional spare tire.

in my opinion 522's only look good if they are 17'' or bigger, they look weird in the smaller sizes. Since the 513's are more of an old school style wheel, those in smaller sizes looks better imo. Go with the 513's, 16x8 +10 or +15

my car is the facory charcoal green or grey?? idk its forest green i guess and its factory color though. the gold to me would look good but the rotas all though theyre cheap, but to expensive for me considering im only 18 working at mickey d's :squint:.. i just graduated so im using that money i got to get the xxr's and tires which i found some for 300 bucks all 4 brand new. im tired of rockin 2 steelies and 2 aluminum wheels unless its 4 drifting which the rims dont even match so yea...

is it possible to put a 9 wide tire on it?? im sorry if im asking dumb questions, but im not exactly a wheel and tire guy. idk what the numbers mean. all i know is that on my old 17's i had 205/40r17 and they we're like almost 1 inch thick rubberbands and were damn expensive to replace if they got flat or blown
and whole reason im down sizing my rims is i want my tires to be cheaper, which bigger = more $. so i cant get the 17's or even 18's in the 522's because
A. im lowered on tokicos, and oklahoma has the worst roads, which my suspension isnt very stiff, so my tire will rub under the fender.i know this because my 17's rubbed which is why im selling those, and getting better looking and cheaper wheels :)
B. tires will be more expensive

IMO there both not that nice, but heres my 2 cents

the 513s are pretty straight, but i think the konig rewinds look WAY better. If you can find a set of used ones with a good offset for cheap locally, i would get those instead
Image

and the 522s at first i thought were pretty cool, kinda like a mix of battles, te37s, and gulflames all in one. I like the fact that they are concave, and they look badass from the front,
Image
but the one thing that bugs the crap out of me is that the outside of the spokes stick out further than the lip... which IMO looks absolutley retarded and kills the whole wheels
Image

But in the end its your car and your choice, and if you can get em for a decent price then go for it! But i would look into other alternatives at around the same price range before you limit to just two sportmax wheels, just my personal opinion

both are too small imho..

but of the two I chose the first one.

522's look like midget sized mb battles... plus the spokes poke out too much. like they poke out past the lip of the wheel. super ugly... its like they want to give the illusion that the spokes are hella concaved in, when in reality, the lug nut holes are almost are the same possition of the lip. Its like those wheel companies that try to give the illusion of having a deep lip when all they do is convex the spokes

i agree about the 522's they do stick out to much and look retarded (i only saw pics looking at the wheel not side views).. sadly in oklahoma 240's are not a plenty. neither are ae86's. so nobody has the konig rewinds here. which means they wont be cheap to get. i seen this guy with watanabes on his rb26dett 240z at a local shop, which were like $800/rim. :spitout: not even counting the tires. so well as far for the tires, would i be able to put a 9 inch tire on there?? would 10 be pushing it or even possible?? no flaming please.. not a tire guy. thanks.

tires and inches don't belong in the same sentence, lol.

But I have a 225 width tire on a 9" wheel. Fits like cake... and 225's are plentiful and cheap(er)

ok so umm well i dont understand how big a 225 is.. is there any way to convert that to inches? if you have a 225 and fits good then im guessing its a 9 inch wide??since the rim is, correct??

The 225 is millimeters. There's like... 30mm in an inch. 225 divided by 30 equates to 7.5. Soooo, a 225 width tire is approximately 7.5 inches wide. A tire that is 7.5 inches wide fitted to a wheel that is 9 inches wide will produce a healthily stretched look.

Here's an example of a 225 tire on a 9 inch wheel:

Personally, I wouldn't even be looking at any wheels smaller than 17x9+20 with 235/40/17 tires on them. But maybe that's just me.

the 522's only look good in bigger sizes. in the 16 the spokes just look way too out of place.
the whole 513/002/501 group of wheels have been around forever. and still look good. who cares if they are played out.

Word. I have Kosei K1's. Finding proper tires for 16x8.5+27 sucks. So few options...
