Hello all. 1996 Q45, 134k. I've had the car since 90k and have done little to it, besides radiator, oil & filters. Does anyone have an opinion on which repair manual is the most user friendly for standard maintenance? I'm looking for the one that assumes I'm a retard. Any help would be appreciated.

The only service manual recommended for any owner is the one downloadable in Acrobat format for a one day subscription from

http://www.nissan-techinfo.com/infiniti/

Be sure to get all the TSB also. You must have a broadband connection or lots of coffee.

I suggest you also do searches and read through the previous posts to learn about your car. Any G50 owner must read all of Q45tech's posts to have any understanding of how to maintain this car, or many others for that matter. Take your time and you will be rewarded.

The 1996 G50 is an odd bird in that it is the only G50 with OBD II.

Welcome to the board. You have found the best source of information for Infiniti maintenance.

The factory service manual assumes you have completed a 2 year trade school course in automotive technology. And have some experience at dealership and tools to work on cars.

The 96Q was one of the top 10 most complex cars in the World in 1996.You will find that even the best tech at most dealerships has a hard time because this was the first year for OBD2 and as such they had a few bugs to work out..............But then again you have 1 of less than 9,000 ever made. For most things [except engine/ecu/tcu] the 94-96Q were nearly identical.
