Hey, Nico, I have a question and want you're experienced opinion.

I am piecing together my own remote oil filter setup that I will probably end up expanding to an oil cooler as well. I just purchased the Mazworx oil block adapter and now need to decide on the filter bracket. I want to run a larger filter that I can just pick up at the local parts store.

What are you guys using? What would you recommend? I'm having a hard time deciding on one.

OG askin' questions.
I have no idea about remote oil filter setups.
Is anyone around who can help out here?

That's the cool thing about a remote adapter, you can use any type of filter you want. Just hit your local Advance or Autozone and pick out something that will fit in your location. I use Bosch.

Well, Summit offers over 100 different adapters/brackets and I can't find any place where I can search for filters by size, thread and price.

I really don't want to end up having to buy $20 oil filters all the time because I bought some ridiculous adapter. I don't know anyone that runs a remote setup, and I have zero experience here. I'll end up going to a parts store later today and poking around to find myself a filter. Then I'll get a bracket.

Larger filters don't really = better filtration. It means they hold more crap before they become restricted. If you're not going more than 5k between changes then go ahead and use a compact one. Pick a filter that has lots of options and is available everywhere, like the Mustang 5.0 filter. It's a medium sized filter and every maker has something available.

Just my .02 though.

That's exactly what I was going to post.

I'd recommend a Ford Motorcraft FL-400S equivalent. Ford used it on EVERYTHING (seriously, everything from fours to eights) for about twenty five years, and it's a very well-designed filter. They are pretty long, because they were also used in V8s with a lot of oil capacity. If the FL-400S doesn't fit, the FL-910 is a bit shorter, but has crappier (cheap fram-style dome) internal construction.

Decided to go with a Bosch 3500. It has a 3/4-16 thread and I can get a bracket from Summit for $16. Filters are $7.
