I need to replace the front oil seal on my rear differential; the oil seal on the front where the driveshaft bolts to. Can someone hook me up with a part #? I have the manual 5 speed non-turbo.

I had this same nightmare yesterday replacing my rear transmission seal and still not sure I got it right; it was pretty hard to knock into position.

38189 300ZX SEAL-OIL,DRIVE PINION; I am pretty sure this is the OEM description.

I think I got it nailed down to either National pt#710117 for the R230V axle or pt#712020 for the R200KV axle.

How do I know which rear axle I have? I am thinking the 230 rear axle was turbo only, right?

Thats what I was thinking, Autozone is telling me this is the seal but I am thinking these are the output seals that go on the sides and not the input seal I am looking for...

Ask what the OEM cross reference part number is. If it's 38189 you're all set.

If it's 38342, then it's the wrong one.

Ya I am pretty sure they ordered me the wrong seal. I called the dealership and came up with Nissan part# C8189-21G00, gonna bite the bullet, wait the 4-5 days and order from them. Thanks for the help!

Personally, for seals and gaskets, it's OEM-only for me, unless it's a proven upgrade to go with something else. Autozone, not so much.
