Hi all, I am the proud owner of a '94 Q45... The gearbox is completely shot.. I have the ability to purchase a Japanese import box with apparently 45-100 ks for around 500 Bucks... The only problem is that they cannot tell me what year the replacement box is from! Does it matter what year model the gearbox is out of?? Or will they all plug in electronically etc regardless of year. Thanks in Advance

Go for an earlier year Q if you can. better gearing.

According to my very knowledgeable Q mechanic(non dealer) there were two issues that my Japanese transmission import had with my 96Q at 140k: The bell housing wasn't a perfect match so he used my old one; the wiring colors were different but could be determined correctly.

1st and 2nd ratios are different in early Q45.

A decent picture of the block would help. I think it was the later ones that had vent openings in the bell housing.

It's all in the previous posts.

whatever you do put an transmission cooler into place as you put that one in, all of the Q trannys can use them when the are operated in high heat. I assume down under you have that issue.
