I drove my car around for a year and a half before I bought my SR. The swap was not just a drop in a drive type of thing. You're going to need either the money to get it swapped for you(about $1500 just for labor) or the mechanical know-how and tools to do it yourself. But that goes for both turbo KA's and SR's.

I would just buy the car, tune it back up to factory specs, and decide where you want to go from there.

Even with some minor bolt ons, you should be able to "stomp some hondas and my friends eclipse"

Just keep it mild - you're young, and trust me, you WILL wreck this car at some point, either outside, or under the hood.

I would suggest first tuning up the engine - wires, plugs, fluids, the whole nine. Make sure that everything under the hood is happy the way it is before going out and spending money on parts. After you've gotten used to the car and the way it feels, then start modding it up.

I would suggest getting headers, exhaust, intake, and an LSD to start with, not to mention a decent suspension and brake upgrade. Nothing too fancy - used parts are just as good as new most of the time. You should be able to find yourself a decent KYB/Tein/Eibach/Whatever setup used on eBay or here... well, you get the point... Keep it mild, and enjoy your car. But most importantly, LEARN.

Unless you have respect for your car, you car sure as hell won't respect you.

What exactly do you mean when you say "I would suggest first tuning up the engine - wires, plugs, fluids, the whole nine." Sorry ive never paid much attention to these little things and now it comes back to bite me in the arse, I guess I never knew as much as I thought I did.

Here's a list:

Replace Spark PlugsReplace Spark Plug Wires (Good ones, not PepBoys)Replace Distributor Cap/RotorCheck/Replace BeltsCheck/Adjust TimingReplace Intake (Either In-Box K&N or swap for a CAI)Check/Replace HosesDrain and Refill RadiatorDrain and Refill Engine OilDrain and Refill TransmissionDrain and Refill DifferentialDrain and Replace Brake Fluid (Motul 500)Replace Oil FilterReplace Fuel Filter (upgrade to 300zx)Check/Replace PCV ValveCheck/Replace Brake PadsCheck/Service Brake RotorsReplace Brake lines with Steel Braided

Those are the things I can think of to start with... minus the brake lines and fluid, it's what I've done to every car I've bought my whole life. I don't like to screw around with diagnosing any of those parts... I just shell out and replace them as soon as I buy a used car.

If there's anything I've left out, I'm sure the rest of the guys and gals here on NICO will let you know. :)

Oh.. I forgot the most important thing:

THE FIRST THING TO BUY: A Factory Service Manual

It's the most important book you'll ever read in regards to your car. They aren't cheap, but it's money MORE than well spent. Read that thing from cover to cover at least once before you start working on the car - you'll be amazed at how much knowledge they grant you.

lol man I wish I had you guys address..because I would send you all money for yalls help...this might shock you because it did me too...the 240sx was my second choice of a car and my father knew that too, he took it to work because he wanted to drive it for fun or so he said...but he pulled up to my house about 15 minites ago in a 98 white integra gsr (my first choice) and not I dont have the 240 sx. I look at this as good and sad. I just learned a hella lot about the 240 sx and I plan on buying one in the future when im more informed. Since I know a lot about integras already I wont need to bug anybody about what to do in it. Thanks for yalls help even though it turned out to be a half waste of time, if I knew I would never actually keep it I wouldnt have bothered anybody.
