I owned a R 50 and now I own a Qx4,

From my experience I will say and R50 is a better performer in every aspect, other than Cruise Control and Steering Wheel Audio Control (because this doesn't come in GCC Specs, but they Do come in US Specs so virtually making QX4 and R50 identical)

R50 = Pathfinder; JR50 = QX4. Both have identical engines; I can't remember any specific driveline changes (I'm fairly certain there was at least one), and interior changes are obviously more luxurious for the QX4. If one bought both an R50 and JR50 new and maintained them identically, I'm sure one would be hard pressed to determine any difference in terms of smoothness or performance.

I prefer the R50. I dislike the QX4's styling - the back hatch, large moldings on the doors, slightly different front end... it all just doesn't seem to sit right with me. But I'd gladly own either if it came down to it.

I like the wood steering wheel and the analog clock :D

I actually prefer the QX4 styling to the 1999+ Pathfinder, I actually prefer the 96-99 Pathfinder styling

Oranges to oranges man, R50 represents both the pathfinder and QX4 from 1996-2004. Pick which ever one your heart desires.

I believe in US Specs both R50 and JR50(QX4) are identical in every respect other than few changes in Body Styling, then why Qx4 is expensive, may be because it got the name "Infiniti" before Qx4

Things I don't like about QX4

Three spoke wheels
Lack of fake wood grained radio/climate control suround
Grill

Things I don't like about Pathfinder

Plain looking front end
two piece headlights
lack of prestige (compared to infiniti)
black door handles

When I was looking for a vehicle years ago, I could get a two-toned QX4 for less than a one tone Pathfinder Le, but I couldn't stand the grill on the QX4. If it had a QX56 style grill, I would have gotten the two tone QX4 in a heartbeat. Other than that or the painted plastic radio surround, I would say that the QX4 is better.

Please forgive my ignorance but what is "OP",

Well regarding other part, yes I woukls say Pathy is a better performer in Desert, since it has a High Front Bumper and little more ground clearance in reality. with better Aspect Ratio Tyres.

Though I have not drive Qx4 much in desert, but still i miss my Pathy.

I only change from Pathy to Qx4 because my pathy was a Basic version without Sun roof / Temp Gauge, Compass, Cruise etc... and Cruise Control Doesn't come in GCC Specs Pathy. therefore I went for Qx4, and by the way here also in used market Qx4 have less resale value than Pathy, though R50 also does not has much good resale. if we compare to Landcruiser Prado, which is a real Hot cake in this Market.

My r50 has all of the option of a QX4 except for the wood steering wheel. Such as painted door handles, sunroof, wood grain, leather, heated seats and 4x4. But I like the look of the QX4 better and I'd trade for a nice black one anyday.

I went looking recently -- thought I could find a Q in better condition than an LE Pathfinder -- I was wrong. Most of the Q's were in rough shape. I went looking for the Q because of the xenon headlights. Found a perfect 02 LE w/52k.

The car was designed to be a Pathfinder -- It has much cleaner lines. The Q is strange looking in some colors. Do like analog clock!
