Due to my recent oil filter failure, I thought it might be fun to get a poll going to see what filters everyone is using. If your filter isn't listed, post it up and I'll add it to the poll!

PL24457. 99% efficiency or bust. If they dont have it in stock, I wait. I use PureOne filters on all of our cars.

Purolator is the best bang for the buck in my opinion and that's mostly because they are featured in my $19.99 oil changes I get from advance auto ;). I've never seen that situation before, but it's good to know that it is possible and something we should all be a ware of.

I use a purolator (original or pureone) or wix, I don't trust any other.

Autozone should have Purolator filters, so should Advance Auto... That's where I get mine.

I've used Wix filters since i started driving (granted that wasn't too terribly long ago). Never had a problem with them, and because I worked at Uni-Select I got them for pennies.

As I said on your other thread, I use MAAN filters and MECATECH.

A friend of mine use VERTEX.

OK, that sucks, I added a new option to the list and it reset the poll. That sucks. I didn't know it did that. Sorry guys.

For whatever it's worth, a lot of the old gear heads I know really like Wix. Fram has a very bad reputation for some reason.

This video made me laugh. He cut up a bunch of oil filters so it's actually pretty good to see what's inside them, but his commentary is, well just watch it:

I just put a Bosch on my newly built engine. Does yours have the bypass valve in it? Mine seemingly does not.

The bypass valve is usually on the back side of the filter. The anti-drainback valve is on the front of the filter. Sometimes they are made of metal and so you can't really see them.
