Hi everyone, new to the forum. Will be purchasing a 04 coupe. I already have a very modified 99 Vette, so don't want to go crazy with this car.

What bolt on mods give the best gains?

I own a dyno shop and most of the 350's that come through with cat backs, CAI's, etc seem to make the same or less power than stock 350's that we've dyno'd. Not sure if that is an issue with the aftermarket parts they were using or if the factory just has it tuned well with stock parts.

Again, not trying to make big power, just want to add 20-30 at the wheel.

Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

Frank

A motordyne plenum spacer, z-tube w/ K&N Filter, headers, and some sort of exhaust ( I like the HKS Hi-power). Pretty much the whole NA process.

This should net pretty close to 20 to the wheels.

Can you put headers and pass smog? And be leagal too? I was affraid to go with headers for this reason.

Thanks for any info you may know.

Welcome to NICO!! These guys are great!

Get the 5/16 from Motordyne. The 1/2 one is actually performs worse throughout most of the effective powerband. And the engine cover will not fit...but the 5/16 one will.

You have to be careful with the exhaust, only a few on the market actually make an improvement in sound/power. I've heard good things on the NISMO CAT-back. The VQ engine is much different than the LS1/LT1 chevy (not only the displacement, but the power squeezed out); the VQ engine is tuned at 80% efficiency instead of GM's 60%, which is why modding those engines will give you higher numbers. But as you said, thats what the vette is for!

Enjoy your fast, sexy, luxury coupe!

Thanks Joe,Thats exactly why I'm buying the car, it's quick and sexy. The car already has a JWT lightened flywheel w/ JWT clutch, Tein coil overs and PIAA 19 x9 front and 19 x 10 rears.

From what we've seen in the shop, the cars seem to be tuned pretty well from the factory. I have only seen one 350 come in with a cat back that actually gained power, but I can't remember which cat back it was, possibly a Nismo. Same goes for the CAI's.

Thats why I'm on here to find out which CAI, catback, etc to go with. My vette makes over 500rwhp, so I have a "go" car, now I want a quick cruiser.

Thanks again for everyones input.
