I have used the manufacturer's recommended 5W-30 weight oil (Mobil 1 synthetic) oil since the start on my Y33s, but have read about Mobil 1's 0W-30/40 synthetics having more detergents and stabilizers. What are your takes on it and what do you use from Mobil (Let's not let this become another Amsoil/Royal Purple/ Your Mother's Best Oil pissing contest, please!)

I use Mobil 1 Synthetic 5W30 because I get it for free through points. The service stations don't offer anything better and I'd rather redeem my points on synthetic oil than car washes and twinkies.

10W-30 with a qt. or two of 15W-50 in the summer.

0W-40 is Porsche specification.

Check the M1 website for specs vs. ambient termperature.

I'm using the 5W-30 myself.

Oh I forgot that this is about MOTOR OIL ! ! !

When the first oil change come due in my "new" ride, at 5000 mile intervals, I will use NAPA house brand 10w30 that meets Nissan recommended specifications as stated in THE OWNERS MANUAL, plus filter, NAPA GOLD of course. 5W30 would also be good as stated in the Owners Manual.

I will purchase NAPA brand house oil when it's on sale.

NAPA house oil is packaged or bottled by Ashland Oil, refiner of Havoline oils.

My RIDE feels the LOVE.

0w40/50 is spec for C43 AMG so I use it as winter fill for old 90Q. Changing frequently is more important than what one uses especially in high mileage where the blowby soots up the oil fast and filters don't filter small particles.

I use 10W30 on mine and it seems to do good. I don't know what brand it is but it is just what the local shop provides.

0W-40 Mobil 1 in the winter, doesn't consume any more than 10W-40 in the summer. Cranked over quite well in recent -19F morning. 196,000 mile Q.

Looks like the best part of this thread got lobbed off. Too bad I wanted to reply to S13SR20 since his retort appeared in my Email notification.

Seems like he got really hot.under the collar. Oh well....

Email him all you want - he needs to learn some manners before he can chat with the grownups.
