Hi everybody,

I'd like to upgrade to 450cc dsm injectors, and wondering which MAF should I use:

maxima n60
240sx ka24e
300zx n62

btw, I do have the stock ca18det MAF, and will be happy to use it.

Any help appreciated.

Cheers,

- Tim

n60 or n62. just make sure you have a way to calibrate the maf in for the ecu. either an safc, a rom tune or nistune

thanks :)

I'm looking into rom-tune based calibration.

Hey Tim would you want to sell me that CA mass air flow sensor if you upgrade.

beans33, if I upgrade, then no problem, but you should be aware that the shipping cost (from Kazakhstan, that's near Russia) might surprise you

You should go with the smallest one that services your needs.
The N62 being good to about 550whp would be an overkill, I think.
The N60 has some kind of a weird voltage mapping, idle voltage is much higher than the others, so you'd lose sensitivity. I've come across numerous threads, where people were having mysterious tuning problems with it. I'd try to exhaust other solutions before using this one.
KA24E MAF is not really big, I doubt it can measure more air than the CA MAF (KA 145hp vs CA 169hp stock), and it won't be enough for the power 450cc injectors would be able to give you. Plus it's that stupid old design, with a separate narrow air channel for the sensor element, jut like the CA. Get one of the newer designs, with the sensor element in the middle.

What I'd go (and will go) with, before switching to a MAP/IAT, is the A32 Maxima MAF, the E60/E61 (pink label). It's the same as the RB25's MAF, should be enough to 300-350 whp. Patrols from about the same model years have this, too, both diesel and gasoline, I think.
The upside with these is, these were sold in Europe. If Kazakhstan got the same vehicles as Europe, you could dig these up or ask for these in junkyards. May be easier to find, than 300ZX MAFs, of KA (US-only) MAFs, and may be cheaper as well.

blownhemi,

I'm just about one step away from purchasing the N60, now I'll have to reconsider this decision.

Regarding the A32 MAFs - are you sure they'll work? any links, write-ups, info on these mafs with ca18det?

yeah, lucky us - we have just about every type of maximas - euro-spec, arab-spec (these I believe were imported and sold officially by the dealer), us-spec and even jdm cefiro's.

I also heard that the rb25 MAFs had different designs over the years...don't know if this it true, but if it is, how's the situation with A32 MAFs?

About MAF wiring

There was a better one with illustrations of pin layout, not just wire colors, but I can't find it. I have to find it, though, because mine doesn't have the wires to reference it to. Will post it up if I do.

Yep, if you look at the above, later RB25s had the E60. As for A32 Maximas, they SHOULD have the same, but don't assume anything, go by the type designation on the label (last three letters), or in the worst case label color.

Sorry, but what do you mean by what igniter you should use? MAF and igniter are not related in any way.

Don't forget to check Patrols too, while you're at it... ;) 2.8 and 3.0 TD's from around '98-'04 should have it, too.
