I used 10-30(non-synth) and 10-40 (non- synth)for many years.....I might just start using 10-30 on my 89, to help lub the timing chain tensioners during cold start ups...I think the FSM reccomends 5-30 which is kind of a general "all weather" oil and is Ok also to use....

I also heard that from people driving late 240sx models, but is tricky....it you use synth on older models it will start leaks. To use synth on a car it needs to be done since day one and kept that way, if you change to synth, it will make your engine leak. Theres a lot of stories when it comes to car maintenance....the truth is: change your oil periodically and regular oil had been used for many years on cars....Synth is better for newer cars...

changing from dino to synthetic on older cars is only bad if your seals are bad. once you change your seals then oil wont leak. synthetic is better in every way.

If your car comes from the factory stock with synthetic oil, then yes you can use it, but all the older cars that came with non synthetic oil you have to stay with non syn. It will wear down the seals, cause leaks, Just terrible on the gaskets, so bottom line dont put synthetic in unless your car came with synthetic new from the factory
