Which is the "better" SOHC power option??

Information on the naturally-aspirated KA24E and KA24DE engines.

I'm rocking a SOHC, and I dont know my numbers but with a 2.5" Exhaust, High Flow Cat, Jim Wolf Tech ECU, Intake, Injectors, Plugs & Wires. And it's a torque monster. But idk where you want to go with your S13

i know they can handle at least 8 psi of boost without risk of failure. At least that is what I have been reading on the ka-t forums here.
yeah 8 lbs is like stock sr boost

uh a SR makes more power then a KA-T? since when?

psi for psi on same turbo KA-T>SR

no doubt about it

kinda goes along with

2.4L>2.0L

I've never seen even the basic KA-T setup make less then 200whp, a stock S13 SR20 makes about 170whp.....

slap a T-4 on your KA-T, get injectors, MAF, intercooler and tune that **** you will have more power then a SR with same mods... GURANTEED u will smoke SR's

you think a SR is cheaper, ok even if u find some shabby *** one for 1500 bucks.... all the ones I see that are any decent cost more....... you still have lots of things you don't even include in the price.... you act like SR's are cheap... thats funny

fuel pump, MAF, Injectors, AFC, FMIC, Downpipe, Exhaust, Boost controller..... put all that **** on your redtop and you still won't break 250whp....... put all that on a KA-T and you can net 350whp easily with a T-4

thats 100 more horsepower.......all for less

pop your sr... go find another one for "1500", pop your KA go get another one for 200

never said the sr made more power. of course psi for psi the kat will make more power. what my point was that a ka can handle the same boost as an sr w/ internals being upgraded. the sr doesnt need an internal work to run 15 psi while the ka does. til u mod the ka to handle the same boost levels as an sr, the sr is cheaper. as far as cheaper to pick up new ones, if u mod and tune properly u shouldnt blow anything

im really confused by this post. if u look at my first post in this thread i am referring to the sr20det being better than the ka24de (ignoring price of the two). its great that u love ur ka24e but that was never mention by me. the only thing the ka has is more low end torque. the sr20 has

- more hp
dude this is 2007, they have KA-T's pushing 20psi on stock internals and closing in on 400+whp... 400whp has already been done... now people are really pushing it muhahaha

oh and as quoted above... you plainly said they have more power... which isn't true

in my lessons of life i have learned that all the "good"sr20's are gone. all blow up by drift crazy peaple. i blew up my sr at a drag track. put my ka-e back in with alot of my bolt-on sr parts.and i can walk on any de from 1500-6500 rpm up to 129 mph. horsepower=sales/torque=victory

yup people act like SR's are indestructable and KA's blow up left and right... its almost the other way around because people who usually do KA-T research it a lot and do it right

people with SR's mainly think its some god's gift to 240sx's and they go and up boost etc thinking the factory rated it for 400, 450, 350, 500 whatever horsepower these kids around here say the factory made to handle... it seems like it changes every month LOL...and kaBOOM

not to mention they pay thousands of bucks for a JUNKYARD engine LOL, thats just kind of funny right there, don't change any bearings in it or nothing... cause hey, "they have less then 30k miles cause its more money to keep an old car on the road" JDM junkyard type mentality

so you have engines that have been in the junkyard for 12 years by my thinking, cause on average figure 10k miles a year, and if it only has 30k miles they only drove it for 3 years right? lol or been driving for 17 years... really think they only put on 30,000 miles in 17 years of use? hahaha..... so gullible

how come every 240sx here has about 150,000 miles on it and every 180sx there only has 30,000 miles? fools

really? if 20 lbs is capable stock thats not bad at all, what i've read and what i've been told by ka-t guys was 8 lbs was about what they can do w/o internal work. i think ppl in here are assuming i'm anti ka-t which is not the case. and if u read my post carefully u can see i was comparing the ka24DE to the sr20det, not a ka-t. so yeah, last time i checked sr20det > ka24de
