This seems to be an old thread but since I'm a fan of the style I'll add some inputs.
I dont know the exact history between watanabe and panasport, but you can consider watanabe as the old school JDM and panasport as the old school euro version
The rewinds arent old school they are knockoffs.
Probably unknown but there is a VERY wide range of Watanabe wheels that can actually get confusing.
just a couple of the types I've owned.R typeF8 type AF8 Type BTheres also a F8F type.(think FWD)3 piece Type C3 Piece Type DBetween the Type C and D.(I own a pair of both) I dont remember which but one is more common, usually a slight polished lip with a grey center. like this: the other will have larger polished lips and darker colored centers. and looks more like this:
You will probably find the best sizes with Watanabe as well. it just seems the FWD offsets (those mentioned above) might be more common for some reason?
But, there are some bad a** sizes out there...
In htis pic you'll see R type in the rear and F8 type in the front:
The wats also come in Magnesium and Aluminum. The mag versions are ridicululus light and could compete with the other SSR, VOLK, and enkei lightweights out there. for example, 16x8 mag F8 style weighs 12.7lbs!
