These are from AutoZone. I presume the most expensive one which is K & N. Anyways, if anybody can tell me where to get a nice oil filter that is convenient to get. Like at your everyday wal-mart or whatever, thats what I am interested. Remember, convienence is the key. I mean if Amsoil products were around the corner, I buy it in a heartbeat. But ever since growing up, it's just really rare to find them in a store. I'm not cheap just want convenience and above average performance. Moreover, is there a place that sells the longer filter but not HARD TO FIND? No online or special stores. I want to shop at autozone because somebody said the 0W-30 oil can be found there and heard about its great benefits.

Bosch / Oil Filter Part Number:3300 STP / Oil Filter Part Number:S6607 Fram / Oil Filter Part Number:PH6607 Fram Tough Guard / Oil Filter Part Number:TG6607

Mobil / Oil Filter Part Number:M1-108 K&N / Oil Filter Part Number:HP-1008 Valucraft / Oil Filter Part Number:V6607

If you want to use longer filters, Use the Nissan Maxima filters. They fit perfect. I use them. Im still using OEM ones from when I had my Maxima but will probably switch to Napa gold when I run out. I used to use the 0-W30 Castrol oil. Its good stuff. At one time it was green. Now it is the same color as others. I don't use it in the Rogue cause of the pre-cat and wanting the additives to get SAE approved so I am using Penzoil Platinum Synthetic. Its a lot thinner than the Castrol.

There is a listing of filters in the oil change thread including part no's. Read more here:

The filter part no's are near the bottom of the first page.

IMHO, stay away from the Fram filters. The general consensus is they are a cheaply made filter. I also do not care for OEM Nissan filters. They used to be quite good but they have switched to cheaper components about 4-5 yrs ago. I have cut open a few of them and the filter media is now capped with cardboard like ends like the cheap Fram filters.

My personal favorite oil filter is the NAPA Gold series which are made by WIX. They are solidly constructed, and have good filtration media. They are around $10 and are readily available from NAPA Auto Parts.

I guess I do "Get the good stuff"...

I just changed the oil in my 2010 (1450 miles) and went with PP oil and a Carquest blue for filter. It appears that CQ uses WIX for their filter supplier. If you look around, WIX is pretty reputable.

I was going to go with Fram, at one time, but several threads here made me change my mind.

Cheers!

Everybody have different preferences. I'm using Fram. Some people say this is poor quality some people say opposite but as long as you change your oil on time it shouldn't matter what brand you using but the size. Bigger is better.

I doubt that anyone has a response based on careful analysis of the various filters out there. Go with what suits your budget, need for convenience, etc. I'd probably go with Bosch but my SO technically owns the Rogue and she has maintenance done at the dealer.

I haven't looked at BITOG but I suspect there's probably plenty of reading there if you really want to get into it.

I wouldn't run on that assumption. Many expensive products are expensive because of the name stuck on the product. Most expensive doesn't always equate to best performance and that's regardless of whatever product you're talking about. That's precisely why so many forum sites have posts where people say "For $XXX, it ought to...". There's no "ought" to it.

FYI:

Here is the older Nissan filter #15208-9E000. Notice the steel end caps on the media.

Here is the newer style filter #15208-65F0C that is used now. I removed this one from my Rogue after the first oil change. They went to paper like end cap media, a different anti-drainback valve (the black rubber bit you see), and a separate bypass valve:

Of course, there may not be any difference performance wise. The newer OEM may be just fine for the application. But the NAPA Gold/WIX filters are the same price and appear much more solidly constructed, just like the old Nissan filters.
