I have 2 questions.

1.) Which is more powerful, a SR20DET or a CA18DET?

and

2.) Since the engines have a few "legality issues," does insurance cover them?

Thanks!

Well to answer number 2.) who says insurance has to know? Be smart not to tell anyone about it.

Stock the SR is, the CA's internals (i believe) will support a little more HP. Both are excellent powerplants.

about the insurance issue, i think he was asking if the car gets stolen will the company cover the cost of the swapped motor. well there are a few different variables to this, they will cover it IF the car is insured as a show car, and it will not be driven on the street. you will not get any average insurance company to insure the car if you tell them you have that motor in there. so you have two options, insure the car as you would normally, and do not tell them about the motor swap ( and take it in the *** when the car gets stolen or parted out). Or opt for the special insurance that will cover it, but risk the chance of losing everything for getting caught driving it on the street. (like if you wreck the car on a public road you can pretty much just kiss the money goodbye)

as for question one. thats not a fair question.

what do you mean "powerful" do you mean HorsePower or torque or which one has the most powerful inner spirit, cause we all know the CA18det has quite a Napoleon Complex.

i think you need to rephrase that question, but before you do that do us all a favor and USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION!

The SR vs CA issue has been stomped to death. It is so controversial...just do your own research and then decide which one you would like to go with because if you ask for others' opinions...they just be biased towards the SR or CA so they're just gonna say that motor is stronger.

hmm very good Q the sr20det is has a overal stock ratings are better and in the long run w/ mods the ca18 will always come up short of the sr20det due to its lack of displcamentits like comparing a b16 to a b18 the b18 will come out better butt really the ca18det is a cheaper and more inexpensive to get and install than the sr20det butt really it is up to the person on what they want depending on what car i have either a s13 body i would go ca18det just for the jdmness of the engines and asr20det for the s14 body and i have no clue about the insurance things im just a tune not a insurence agent
