i seen the HP rating a little lower on the new M...is that because of the new scale?? Does anybody know which M45 is faster...0-60 and 1/4 mile

Unfortunately, no longer a Nissan or Infiniti, but continuing here at NICO!
Location: San Jose, CA

The lower number is due to the HP derating done because of the new measurement system.

My guess is that new M45 would be a tick faster than the older 2003 and 2004 M45, but not enough to be significant. Tires and driver would make the difference!

With the VDC off the 03-04 M is faster. The dealer/service dept will admit that this car is the fastest infiniti produced.

the hell with the g35's!!! we are talking new M vs the Y34 and like I said, the 03-04 is faster, period The only performance advantage that the new M will have is better handling. I witnessed that myself on an extensive test drive in a M45 sport.

All I was trying to show is that you may be incorrect in your previous post when you said the 03-04 were the fast Infiniti's ever produced. Check your previous post (11:53 2/7/07).

that test of the y34 is bs! how could they have the 02 q45 @ 14.40 and the 03 m45 @ 14.50? there's something seriously wrong there buddy.most of the quartermile posts for the 03-04 m45 are very low because they are not turning off vdc. it is night and day believe me! i did a few runs with a gtech pro and the vcd slowed this car down by nearly 5 tenths of a second! thats big!

I have an 02 Q, with VDC it did make a little difference but when I actually took out the VDC fuse, thats when I was able to do burn outs with heavy 20's tires. The K&N air filter also makes a minor improvement

Study the weight difference between the models and the change in gearing on the new heavier M.

took the m for a spin today and did some testing with the gtech pro!had some problems at first, the traction control would not disable for some reason and i could not do better than a 14.70 @98.was very dissapointed and didnt know what was wrong.i turned the car off and pressed the vdc button and tried the car and it felt like it was pulling much harder.later on in the day i went back to the test spot and i pulled off a 13.91@ 104.9! yeah believe me no bs! i cant believe it myself! the mph is probrably a little highbut i'm very happy with these results. will post more times soon!
