I'm trying to decide between the Apexi N1 catback and the HKS Hi Power catback. Which one do you guys think sounds better and performs better?

The HKS Hi-Power has a nice sound to it, I'd say the Hi-Power because of its nice loud purr that it has....there is not much of a huge difference in sound but I think the Hi-Power is a bit louder.

I had an N1 single on my old FC and it began to rust at the welds after just 6-8 months. I have had my HKS HiPower for about 4 years and it is in amazing shape.

The sound is great; I even was given compliments at the parts store just today. But the mega canister is too boy racer for me any more. I want to get rid of it so bad.

both stand out because of the shape and sound. i would go for brm or something that looks close to stock than a fart can making loud noise which will get you pulled over.

I have a dual n1. Not really by choice but because it came with the car when I got it. All I had to do was bolt it up. I like it the sound. Its not bad, and it looks pretty good w/ my car. Its really deep. And u can really hear the turbo, its kinda like an open downpipe but muffled so that its a really low purr. But I also have straightpipe. No cat.

I would have chosen the HKS though had I built the car.

I have a video from when I was troubleshooting my car and u can hear my exhaust.

As for looks I tucked mine away, shaved the bumper when I mounted it.

The sound's obviously going to depend on a lot factors. For instance, what engine you have, whether you have a stock exhaust manifold or a header, turbo or n/a, cat or no cat.

I like the sound and look of the Hi Power on a stock KA, it's the one I'm saving up for.

HKS Hi Power

I have the Apexi and I think it`s great. It`s pretty damn loud and a lot of the time in traffic I just take it easy with the throttle as to not make that much sound. People who have sat in the back of my car have told me that you can`t hear anything cause of the exhaust -- even the music!

I went to pick up my brother at some place and I passed it and had to turn around a bit after it around the corner, and my brother said he could hear me the entire time, stopping, going in reverse, and coming back. Ha.

It`s such a beautiful sound though. Everytime I enter a tunnel or go under a long enough bridge I just can`t resist to throttle it.

love my hi-power and I personally dont like the dual tip of the apexi........

the sound even with 3in trust dp/ EU tp/ and hi-power at idle is very mild. though my CA is not huge either. the top end sounds superb.

i say the hks i own one it has a great tone to it. buddy has an apexi, it sounds alright, but not my style (both sr20's). Went with the hks because its my favorite company and it was one of the biggest piping i could find 3.5 to a 5 inch tip. Apexi was only 3 to 2x 2.5. He wants to go to the hks because he likes mine. also its very quiet until u romp it even without the silencer so no bacon patrol.

p.s ls1's sound sick through a hks

But of the 2 listed, go with whichever is cheaper.

Holy thread bump.

I have the hi-power on my ka-t, it sounds great.

My friend has the n1 dual on his ka-t, it also sounds great.

It's personal preference at this point.

since its back from the dead.....apexi n1...only reason i say that is caz i own it. i had the choice between the two when i got my exhaust and chose the apexi caz it was 100 less and the fact its not so big i could smuggle immigrants in the muffler

3" straight pipes do indeed rock.

Look at all that glorious clearance around the exhaust, I hate massive canisters.

Headers make your car sound like a ricer...even with my 22" BRM setup. But that shall be taken care of with my Vibrant Ultra Quiet Resonator

Wow. I can't believe this s*** was revived. I've honestly decided to just stick with the eBay piping I have and throw on an HKS Hi Power muffler. It'll save me some money.

sound wise, they both sound great but its really all up to personal preference on what you like your car to sound like.

here's the audio of a recording i did of my apexi dual inside my garage, short since i had to run before i died of carbon monoxide poisoning
