No, both are new and left over stocks.Jesda wrote:Is this 2006 used? I ask because the VK45 is very sensitive to break-in procedures. The first couple thousand miles can strongly affect its longevity.
I'm sure someone else has the answer on which is quicker.

The 06 has the 19" wheels and the rear steering.
Neither one is rally designed to be a straight line burner. If that's what you want, there are other cheaper cars out there.
For the handling, maybe. For depreciation, probably.LSs1Power wrote: I know that, but im asking about 05 vs 06 to make a choice tomorrow between them... is 4k worth it for the 06 over the 05? Both cars are new.
TPS doesn't display until the car has moved a ways, on my 2005, a few blocks.LSs1Power wrote:Thanks
By the way.... The tire pressure monitor system shows -- on all 4 tires when i checked the system while the car was parked. Is that ok? Does the car have to be rolling in order for the tire monitor system to work?
Not sure what 1st gear ratio is on the 2006 Q45, or the M45 for that matter, but a 2.93 will give a slower acceleration than a 3.11 with the same 1st gear ratio. Also I understand that the cars with 2.93 rear axle ratio have wider gear spread in the trans than those with 3.11, which would make the car even slower on acceleration. If the 2.93 car has a lower 1st gear and wider ratios, it drops the high torque peak to a lower point in the rpm band than a 3.11 with closer ratios would, so while a 2.93 with a lower 1st gear (depending on overall ratio in 1st) might be faster off the line despite the higher rear end gear, the 3.11 geared car would likely catch and pass it somewhere along the way to the top speed, especially in the higher gears.LSs1Power wrote:The difference between the two as far as i can see is blue tooth and thats about it. From what i read on the internet... the 06 has the M45 transmission and a wider final drive ratio of 2.93 compared to the 3.11 for the 05 Q45 and the older transmission.
I got the 06 for a great deal.... 46k for a new 06 out the door.
I should pick up the car in two days or so.
Understand that this Q45 is not U.S spec. So it have different options than the U.S sold Q45. This one is an 06 with premium package. This one engine is rated at 367HP.PIONEER wrote:The 06 was not offered in a premium with heated/cooled seats and rear recliners. The 06 has leather wrapped steering, blue tooth and 19" wheels, hense the Q45s . I went with the 05 Premium b/c it was 10K cheaper at the time and figure I was going to change the wheels anyway.
Thats why i thought the 05 was faster than the 06. It surprised me that Infiniti would put a wider transmission gear ratio along with a longer final drive ratio. Oh well its a lux car so who really cares. I have a 1000HP car to go fast in a straight line.StarPD wrote:

The 2.93 car would give slightly better fuel mileage though at cruising speeds.
I will post pics as soon as I pick up the car.Jesda wrote:Still waiting on pictures.
Check what's in the hookah on the showroom floor when you go back.LSs1Power wrote:Understand that this Q45 is not U.S spec. So it have different options than the U.S sold Q45. This one is an 06 with premium package. This one engine is rated at 367HP.
Yup.If the final drive is higher, the 1st gear in the transmission must be lower to not compromise initial acceleration. Then at least one or more other ratios must be spaced wider. Usually it's the spread between 1st and 2nd gear. In that case, overall gearing in all other gears is still higher, resulting in less acceleration in each one. If gears are more evenlly spaced, then overall ratios will stil be higher, and the RPM drop between gears will usually put the engine in a lower part of the torque curve at each gearshift, making the car even slower yet. Engines that put out HP and torque at high RPM suffer this condition worse than big displacement ones that put out lots of torque at low RPM, but those usually run out of steam higher in the RPM band.LSs1Power wrote:

They're smaller horses. That's how they cram more of them in the motor. The hookah is so you can count them better.maxnix wrote:Check what's in the hookah on the showroom floor when you go back.
