Which EX35 did I get?

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Hi Everyone,
I just traded my RDX in for an 08 EX35. I loved my RDX but needed something a little smoother and 'more mature'. HA!
I am really loving the EX. Bought it at a non-Infiniti dealer and the sales guy didn't know too much about it...
If I tell you what it has, can you tell me what package it was when new??

2008 EX35
RWD
platinum graphite, black leather
bluetooth
bose 6 disc
ipod/video integration
roof rails
power folding rear seats
sonar
halogen lights and foglamps (bummer)

what is the difference between base and journey, or base with options and journey?
(this is my first Infiniti)

Looks like it has had the steering column recall done, but can't see where the fuel pump or steering rack TSB have been accomplished. So far, I dont hear the pump and havent noticed the steering vibration, but the steering is very easy/free/loose (compared to the RDX)

anything else to look into? any easy upgrades (like sylvania silverstars?)

Thanks for your help!

Most likely 95% u have the journey which comes with all the features u mentioned, as far as i understand its actually pretty hard to find a base model, base doesn't have the premium package which is all the tech, bose, ipod stuff etc. Seems like the fairly easiest upgrade is swapping the muffler out for a g37 one, which supposedly bolts right on and gives it more of that g37 sporty sound, u can do intake, but from what i read it takes some tinkering to get it to fit. Congrats on your purchase!

Thank you!
All the options and packages get confusing to the simple minded like me... Acura had 2 options... RDX or RDX Technology. Easy to know what you have!

Anyone upgrade their standard halogen bulbs (keeping the halogen) with plug and play sylvania silverstar bulbs?

HID Xenon SHOULD have been standard equip on a ride like this....

I recently bought a certified 2008 EX and distinctly asked prior to purchasing if the car had HID's. I was told that it does with adaptive lighting. I've driven it a few time at night and know for sure that it does not have adaptive lighting and i'm questing whether it has HID's. Were HID's even an option for 2008's or no 2008 model has them?

Maybe it's just turned off. There is a set of three off/on switches below and to the left of the steering wheel, just above the intelligent key port. From left to right: Sonar - Lane Departure Warning - Adaptive front lighting. You could have all, some, or none of these switches depending whether the option is installed.

Halogen headlights are standard with the 2008 EX; Xenon HIDs are an option with the Journey.

That's how I know for sure it doesn't have adaptive headlights, there is no on/off switch, only sonar on/off. I examined the lights in my garage (tried to make it as dark as possible) and I think they're HID's. Just wanted to make sure that it was an option.

Yes, BSW is part of the Technology package in 2011.

So if I have the Tech package and the Premium package, those packages just must not include everything (have additional add-ons that are not part of those packages?) such as :
HID
Nav
CF card reader/music box
Etc...

Either way, I am loving this thing. :dblthumb:

I found what I was looking for... No wonder there is confusion! I ended up getting: 08 EX35 RWD Journey Premium with Alum Roof Rails.

Here are the actual descriptions of each package:

Model Lineup

The 2008 Infiniti EX35 is offered in two trim levels, base and Journey, each with rear- or all-wheel drive. Every EX35 is powered by a 297-hp 3.5-liter V6. The lone transmission is a five-speed automatic with a manual shiftgate.

The EX35 ($31,300) and EX35 AWD ($32,700) come standard with cloth upholstery, automatic climate control, eight-way power driver seat, four-way power passenger seat, 60/40 split second-row seat, tilt/telescoping steering wheel, automatic headlights, remote keyless entry and starting, trip computer, six-speaker AM/FM/CD stereo with auxiliary input jack, XM Satellite Radio, and P225/60R17 all-season tires on aluminum wheels.

The Journey Package ($3,550) adds leather upholstery, power-folding second-row seats, sunroof, an auto-dimming rearview mirror with a compass, universal garage door opener, and front and rear park assist (Sonar)

The Premium Package ($2,150) adds 11-speaker Bose audio system with a six-disc changer and iPod interface; dual-zone automatic climate control; heated front seats and rear HVAC vent; heated outside mirrors with reverse tilt-down feature; Bluetooth hands-free cell phone link; a memory system for the driver's seat, steering wheel and outside mirrors; eight-way power passenger set, two-way power driver seat lumbar adjustment; and power tilt/telescoping steering column.

The Luxe Elite Package ($1,650) has upgraded leather accents, driver seat headrest-mounted coat hanger, P225/55R18 tires with aluminum wheels, xenon high-intensity discharge headlights, and the Adaptive Front-lighting System, which points the headlights into a turn when the steering wheel is turned.

The Navigation Package ($2,150) adds a hard-drive-based navigation system; voice recognition for the climate control, audio and navigation; XM NavTraffic with real-time traffic information; a 9.3-gigabyte hard drive for music storage with a compact flash drive slot; single in-dash CD player; and a rearview monitor.

The Technology Package ($1,950) adds the Around View Monitor, Lane Departure Prevention System with Lane Departure Warning System, and Intelligent Cruise Control.

The Luxe Style Package ($1,250) has P225/55R18 tires with aluminum wheels, xenon headlights with the Adaptive Front-lighting System.

Stand-alone options include maple Wood Trim on the center console and doors ($450) and aluminum Roof Rails ($200). (All New Car Test Drive prices are manufacturer's suggested retail prices that do not include destination charges and may change at any time without notice.)

Safety features that come standard on all models include dual front airbags; torso-protecting, seat-mounted front side airbags; head-protecting curtain side airbags; LATCH child seat anchors; active front head restraints; antilock brakes with brake assist and electronic brak-force distribution; traction control; and electronic stability control.

Optional safety features include front and rear obstacle detection, the Around View Monitor, and the Lane Departure Warning system with Lane Departure Prevention.
