Just wondering which cylinder typically runs the hottest on these cars? I believe its #3, but what the hell do I know. I'm about to pull the manifold and drill/tap it for my EGT sensor, and figured I should ask. I'm going to try to get it as close to the exhaust port as possible, for the most accurate reading. Eventually, I will buy 3 more EGT gauges, but for now I want to put my one where it will be the most effective. I am going to tune by EGT to reduce spool time, while using my wideband o2 to make sure everything is kosher A/F wise.

Why not just put it in your o2, The exhaust gas can not cool down that much before it get in there and it will be easier to do then in your manifold.

It will be way too cool after it goes through the turbo for my needs.

I was planning to go pre turbo right before the collector so that I got the temp of the 4 combined. I assumed the heat reading was to resist the excess heat from cooking the oil in the turbo? so anywhere pre-turbo was sufficant.

if it cooks the manifold, the single port will be give me far enough forwarning to backer down.

least it sounded good on paper to me.
