Which ones should I go with? The Tein RA's or the HKS Hipermax Damper 2?? I been able to find some info on the RA's here and other places but not on the HKS. Looks to me everybody loves and thinks the HKS is top of the line and a "dream" suspension. What kind of spring rates does that suspension have. They are about 300 dollars in difference so I wouldnt mind paying a little more for a much better coilover setup if it turns out to be one. I dont care about how hard and stiff the ride is. Nobody fits in the backseat anyways and I mostly ride with car enthusiasts so they wont mind the comfort/performance sacrifice.

I have heard that JIC coilovers are better than TEIN and Cusco in both quality and price. Is that correct

anybody else care to share their thoughts? I dont think many people can vouch for the HKS cause when I typed the name of the suspension it brought back 0 results.

actually for the price that you pay for JIC coilovers you get a lot more than if you were to buy Tein.

well, if you want to compare tein and jic, the HE's are the equivalent to the jic flt-a2 performance wise- both have 8kg(front) and 6kg (rear) and the tein's are about $500 less... the RE's which i would recommend over the RA's since they are full length adjustable but otherwise identical to RA's, have stiffer springs and are more for track use,and are only about 400 more than the JIC's. IMO Tein's are more bang for the buck... JIC's are nice, just kinda pricey... i'd go with the HE's, nice and stiff, but not too stiff for everyday driving.

f1seb the HKS coilovers have 10k front and 8k rear spring rates. Fakts13 are you sure that the jic flt's are 8k front and 6k rear, cause that what my jic sf-1's are i thought the flt's had the 10k and 8k rates. Fill me in and let me know of a source that gives jic rates if you can.

FLT-A2's are 8/6 rates similar to the HE's. FLT-A2's aren't the equivalent to HE's, more like RA's. HE's don't have adjustable dampeners.

"HE's don't have adjustable dampeners."

you're smoking crack, TEIN HE's are 16 way adjustable, with full body ride highet adjustablity so it doesnt reduce or pre-compress the spring or damper.-chet

My mistake, I've seen to many sites that list HE's but don't list the dampener specs. Been a while sense i've been to TEIN's site.

Yes the HE's and the A2's are very similar, but the JIC's are way better built....they are the top of the line JIC's, plus the materials used on the JIC's are far superior, stainless steel and aluminum construction meaning no rust, which the Teins are notorious for, the JIC's also use trick inverted strut design up front, and the piston size of the JIC's are bigger too.

I didn't hear any mention of the apexi coilovers, do they not compare in quality or price?? I have them on my 98 and I like them just fine, a good firm grip on the road and still tolerable for everyday driving.

Teins are not notorious for rust. Tein HA's are.

Tein RA's would be a good comparo to Jic FLTA2's. They also have an inverted front sturt (which is nothing really 'trick'...hell, some new factory cars come with them on all 4's), aluminum/ss construction, and the same (45mm) size piston. They are also both mono-tumbe design. Yes, the Teins are more expensive though.

Also, stop comparing coilovers on the basis of spring rates. Every single coilover that people have mentioned can be ordered with any spring rate.

Any of the top coilovers from the big manufacturers will all basically have the same exact specs and perform similarily to each other...so close that 99% of you guys wouldn't be able to tell one from another. Whether you buy Jic FLTA2's, Tein RA's, Zeal B6's, Hipermax's, Cusco Zero2r's, Buddy Club Racing Spec's, Apexi N1's, whatever...they will all perform excelently. Things that should be taken into consideration is whether or not the company has a USA rebuild facility, how long the turn-around time is, how much will it cost, how much do extra springs cost, warranty info, ect.
