okay guys well i did some research and i chose two coilovers to go with either megan racing or the nismo s-tune considering they dont make the r-tune for s13's... (PLEASE CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG) i am on an extremely tight budget cuz i'm 17 and about to start school again thats why i'm not buying the spl or any other kick *** coilovers... and i know megan's and nismo have both proven themselves to me

by the way i dont know what the spring rates on the s-tunes are

Since Nismo is oft considered factory option and usually built for longevity instead of insane spring rates, I'll automatically choose Nismo.Wish i had a set...

what do u guys think of the ksport?and naed240sx how much better do u think the kts are compared to the megan's? remember this is mostly for daily and some n.a.s.a. driving maybe drifting and i kinda want some 8/6 spring rates just so i dont feel like i'm gonna roll over at like 50 mph turns

id recommend the nismos, that way since youre on a budget you can get things like sway bars and bushings to go along with them

I havent heard about the ksports giving anyone problems, but I have heard some complaints about adjustability (things like camber bolts moving, and the lack of clicks for damping(which seems like it would really suck)). But as far as quality ive heard its decent.

kts have an inverted front shock design which is apparently much better than your typical layout, and the damping is very good. Just because a coilover is 8kg/mm spring rate doesnt mean that its going to feel be the same as any other coilover with that spec. Also, living in austin, I have talked to kuah personally about some of his products, and he is a really cool guy. They wont sell anything unless it has been properly tested/checked out. And if anything does happen to ur kts, instead of getting them rebuilt, you can just replace the shock at a very discounted price, with a new one. SPL backs all of their products very well and customer service is excellent. I cant claim that megan has insuperior damping, because I dont know that much about them. That is one thing that scared me. I know that they look nice, and quality seems good, but megan is simply selling generics from different companies. Dont get me wrong, Im sure megans are fine, just the fact that kts is so well backed made me turn away from megan. As far as driveability, The first week will be pretty bad with any coilovers, but after they get broken in(mine are just getting there), ride gets alot better. Driving around downtown austin, it is very bumpy, and I drive much slower than the legal limit, but once you get on some smoother stuff, its amazing (dt austin has some very old roads and is extremely rough, even for stock suspension in a 240). Doesnt make my kidneys bruise or whatever everyone keeps talking about. They are not bouncy at all either. ohh, and body roll will be pretty much nonexistant, even with stock sways.

no dampening adjust, no height adjust, extremely mild springrate.. yeah. i hate megan racing, and id get megan racing before s tune.

get KTS

I'd have to agree with chmercer on going with Megan's before s tunes. But in all honestly save up a little more money and buy something good that you will not regret later on down the line. I remember when i was about 16-17 in Highschool I went through like 7 different suspension setups until I figured out that I should have just bought the qaulity products that I wanted in the first place. So unless your getting either of the coilovers at an extremely low price that you cant pass up (once in a lifetime opportunity type of thing), just save the little bit of extra money and get the KTS or equal quality coilover

I don't know where all these people get there thoughts of MR coilovers because I don't notice that they have them but I ACTUALLY HAVE MRs and I love mine. I was really shocked by the quality! They look to be some of the best built noninverted coilovers I seen. I have had my MR's for about 8 months, they are great. I would definently recommend them.

Chad

PS ENJUKU RACING uses Megan Racing Coilovers on both of there drift cars!

EDIT: KTS front coilovers are Inverted. I was corrected. Sorry for the confusion!

i bought my Megan Racing coilovers about 3 months ago and i love them. i've had no problems with them and they are just stiff enough for the track and soft enough to make los angeles freeways bearable.

as requested that's just the coilovers i've been lazy about taking the pic's of the car but i'll do it tommorow... i've gotten so many compliments even from people who don't like my car at work (ie: the muscle car guys) but either way i love them i take corners way faster and they're not that bouncy and i just have them at the specs they came at...

i'd think in longevity like sr_smith. while megans might be good now. where are you going to go to get them rebuilt... how long will they last. what happens when the shocks go? i'm pretty sure most coilovers need to be overhauled around 2 years or so.

but those s-tunes dont sound like my kind of thing... so much money for just mild spring rates with not much adjustments.

On Inverted coilovers the shock body is under the springs and the piston shaft is inside the threaded body of the coilover! Tein makes an inverted coilover. Here is a link that shows the difference. The one on the left, with the large shock body under the spring is the inverted one! Tein Website. Inverted tube coilovers can't even be compared, they are a better design and much more expensive . Because no one at SPL with their combined decade plus of suspension tuning on Nissans has zero idea what an inverted shock is or how to identify it. I guess Mike Kojima also doesn't know an inverted shock when he sees one either.

Calm down! All I said is that the pictures they have are not Inverted!! I am going from my often admited "limited" knowledge of things like these. If I was wrong a simple, "you are wrong and this is why" would suffice!

i heard the k sports are the same as the d2's? i'm looking for suspension for tracking. i plan on spending about 1k for coilovers and 1k for suspension componets i think my car will be stiff enough.

You can't even see the front shocks. They have a dust boot covering them.

We simply would not say they are inverted if they weren't indeed inverted, so in you saying that we are trying to pass them off as inverted is basically calling us liers.

I recently bought a pair of KTS coilovers over Megan racing coils, and I can say I'm very, very pleased with the setup. The coils install very easily, adjust easily, and are very composed on the street. For a few days they were vaguely bouncy but they settled in nicely and the damping is wonderful for the spring rates. The stiff settings make the car feel like a race car. I'd reccomend saving and going with SPL/KTS.
