I'm in need of a new clutch and not sure what I should buy for my application. I've read on here, and on another forum, great things about the ACT clutch kit. I'm planning on doing an NA build up with my car. So I'm looking at 170 to 200 whp depending on my budget. I don't feel like paying $350 for the ACT kit b/c I think it is over-kill for my application. However, the stock clutch isn't going to cut it. I need something with around 30% increase in torque holding. I know Centerforce makes a kit like this, but I haven't read to much good about their products.

Any suggestion?

Clutches SHOULD have their holding rating in a torque measurement, horsepower doesn't matter, as the Ff (force of friction) applied by the clutch to the flywheel is only opposed by the instantaneous application of torque, not that torque over time. So it depends entirely on how much torque you end up with, probably around 170-180 ftlbs, meaning you might even be OK with an OE clutch. I'm not sure what it's rated for, though.

Your right. Don't know why I gave whp. Since I'm increasing my compression I would guess my torque would be equal to or more than the hp.

So, lets just say 200-230 ft/lb max at the crank.

I have always read good things about RPS clutches. I believe they make a sport street clutch thats got a torque cap of 220lbs and only runs about $245.

I had a stage 2 clutch in my maxima, very similar to the pucked ACT and I loved it. Too bad I sold the car 2 months after I had it installed.

The RPS clutch seems to fit the bill perfect. Holding capacity is right, price is right, pedal feel is right. How is it for smooth engagement?
