OK, this will be my 3rd clutch in the last 6 months.

When I put in my rebuilt KA 6 months ago I installed a ACT HD clutch that lasted 2000 miles before the TOB failed. Then I had a Exedy Stage 1 clutch installed that failed after 200 miles.

My problem was either a bent fork or pivot ball or something binding in the system. Also the output shaft in the trans was shot and might have caused the clutches to fail.

Anyway, I bought a rebuilt trans that will be in soon. Also a new fork, slave, master, any parts I could find for the pedal assembly.

THE MAIN PROBLEM :I had my 2nd back surgery & live with constant back pain. My left leg is very weak so I need a clutch kit that will give me the softest pedal but will still allow me to have some fun when needed. Everybody is telling me to install an OEM clutch for comfort but I know I will not be happy with it.

I had for 6 years a ACT EXTREME that was very stiff. Then the ACT HD that lasted 6 months was not as stiff but still a little to hard on my back.

The Exedy Stage 1 was extremely stiff (more them the ACT EXTREME) but I think that is because the transmission was really messed up causing the hard pedal or something binding. It was still stiff with the motor off but when the engine was running it got much harder to depress and then would come up in stages like a ratchet action (hard to explain) but it was not releasing smoothly.

I cannot really know how the pedal felt with the Exedy because it was not the true feel because of the bad transmission causing it to bind.

Can someone suggest what Clutch I should buy that will act like a performance clutch but has the pedal as close to stock as possible. I just want to catch 2nd every now and then & have a stronger launch.

The ACT Sport would do the trick I think but they do not make one for the 90.

The only mods I have is a Header, Exhaust, Air Intake & a performance ECU I got in 93 that has a more aggressive set map & added about 10% more HP & Torque.

shoot me an email when you get a chance, im 100% sure our non upgraded KA24 clutch kit would be perfect for you. the pressure plate we use in our stage 2 doesnt have a high plate load so its REALLY easy on your left leg but will still hold the power a bolt-on KA makes like a champ.

and we do offer a discount to NICO members as well as free shipping and a free t-shirt

Oh man, I just got off the phone with Tom at Carolina Clutch & I ordered a RPS Sport that is like 15% over stock, Max Torque 220. Said the pedal should be lighter then an Exedy Stage 1. He gave me his cost at $175.

I will see if I can cancel the order & get back to you Chad ASAP.

THANKS

I would advise you get this clutch installed by a professional because obviously you are doing something wrong, 3 clutches in 6 months = fail.

I had a shop do the installs. They think the problem was with the trans output shaft bearing that was making noise & also the trans had no gear oil in it for a few hundred miles. Something was binding causing it not to release properly. I am having a rebuilt trans installed and also changing the fork (that was also bent). I hope this is the last clutch for sometime. I am the original owner and have had the clutch replaced mor in the last 6 months then the last 15 years!

Thanks
