I just need some simple advice on which catback exuast to buy for my 2001 Nissan Maxima. I was thinking very strongly about getting the GReddy Evo 2. Any suggestion and please advise where to buy. I know some places online are shadier than others. Thanks in advance.

Nice to hear you live close by as well. First of all I am not a native, my wife goes to grad school in Tampa at USF and we live near downtown in ST. Pete. I frequently travel between Tennessee and Florida as we have not even been married a year yet. Matter of fact I am in Tennessee right now and am leaving in the next couple of hours to come to ST. Pete. To answer the post I decided to go with the GReddy EVO 2 exhuast since I didn't hear any negative feedback. I found it for $602.10 shipped. I also am replacing all three catalytic conveters with the Eastern aftermarket converters which I found for roughly $616.00 shipped. I think I only am going to buy one oxygen sensor since the others have been replaced recently and call it a day. My dad is gracious enought to put everyting on for me with obviously no charge. Expensive fix but I wanted it done right and hopefully nothing to worry about for a while now. Also, I am sure the dealer would have charged twice the amount. I am also not sure if I shouldn't have just put some headers on but I decided to keep the front of the car close to stock as possible in order to make sure I don't have to do anything drastic to keep the check engine light off, Hence Ghetto Sim,etc.

Look around on youtube and see which one has the sound you like as I'm sure someone has vids out there for comparison. In general, the factory maxima exhaust systems are not restrictive so you should not worry about which one has the most hp gains.

Thanks for the good advice. I did check around youtube last week. Sometimes it is hard to decide what the true sound of the exhuast will be from the videos. I guess that is why I was looking for solid opinions over my own judgement. I did, however when researching, found that the factory exhaust wasn't restricting as you stated. I wasn't really looking for hp gains so that wasn't a huge deal to me. All this said, I ended up purchasing the GReddy EVO 2 catback exhaust, front and center Eastern pre-cat, the rear eastern cat, and one bosch o2 sensor. I replaced the other two sensors recently and the last one on the header I figured I can replace later if need be. Also, last but not least to add a little mystery to the story I started this maintenace frenzy when I started hearing a weird cyclic noise from the front left wheel when turning hard in either direction. I had my dad turn the rotors and put new pads on, which needed to be done anyways. To make a long story short the wheel bearings ended up being bad. This baffles me since the car only has 87,000 miles and my dads (same year and model) had 180000 with the original bearings.

Greddy is quality regardless, good choice.

Wheel bearings are known to go bad in the 5th gen maxima as I've seen that a lot. Now, my 2k2 was still on the factory bearings at 158k miles when I got rid of it this year.

It turned out to be the wheel bearings. Replaced and fixed the problem. Sucks to have to pay someone to do the job but it sure the heck beats hearing the noise all the time.
