Hey guys I'm not that great with cars but I feel like I came to the right place to find some knowledgeable people. I am interested in letting go of my 2004 Infiniti G35 coupe, to maybe pocket some extra bucks. It's black, automatic, bose, sunroof, 113,500 miles, spoiler. My friend is telling me I should be interested in this car I found on craigslist. I don't know much about cars but I was going to put mine around $11,000 as well. Who is the one that isn't asking for enough money?

Well It depends on how much he is asking... you got anymore pics? If he is only asking say $9k, sell your g35 and then buy this. Or see if he can put cash on top of the trade. How many miles is on the SR20?? And is there any motor work that has been done? Or is the S15 SR stock? Does he have all repciets and paperwork?? Personally im not a fan of the body kit, and i think you can find a Much better 240sx to trade your G35 for, but if you like this one and want to pull the trigger... GO FOR IT!

He listed it for $11k. My friend said he could resell it for more, but if you're saying I could find a nicer car I don't think I will continue to pursue this one.

hmm, does sound intriguing..

like the member above asked, how many miles does the sr20 have? if it has more than 113k, do you feel safe going to the one with more? i'd do some research on each motor.

is the sr20 stock aside from the things listed?

sounds sweet, of course i would be more interested in the 240, but i'm skeptical about picking up someone else's project. unless everything just seems to be perfect. take a mechanic along that knows nissans. does it seem to be well maintained?

without knowing more of the situation, my opinion:

sell your g35 for what you can, and start trying to build your 240, or whatever you want to build for cheap.

*maybe start with just the shell of a car, and get the motor that you want for it later
*or get the shell with motor, both in decent shape for a reasonable price.

first of all, it might be a good idea to figure out everything that he's got on the car. add everything up to see what you would pay for all of that alone.

what i'm getting at with all of this, is that you could possibly pay less for everything on his car for less than what he's asking, and possibly less than for what you could sell your car for. plus if you sell your car first, and use that to fund your 240 (or whatever) project, you can learn how to do everything yourself. which Will save you money in the long run.

good luck man!

Tuned 20PSI @376hp, 290tq,
is no joke

Make sure the car is built right and ask as many of your knowledgable friends as you can if this would be worth it

gotta realize this is a hell of a lot more car than the g35 lol. Its a lot lighter with a lot more power. Basically you have to decide if you want a nice smooth comfortable luxurious car with decent power, or a light stiff cheap car with a ton of power

you'll be more comfortable in the g35, but i guarantee you will have more fun in that specific 240

One thing to note, and this is just my personal experience. But I prefer not to buy people's project cars. If it's sorted, that's one thing. But project cars tend to be a nightmare because you don't know what's been touched and what hasn't been. And half the time, it seems like something is failing or falling off.

I didn't even see the RHD conversion listed. Normally I would steer clear of those, but if you're dead set. Make sure you find out EVERYTHING he did in the conversion process. How did he swap the firewalls? Was it a total replacement involving removing the firewalls at the spot welds or did he just simply swap the smaller areas out for the steering column and ECU/AC holes. I've seen a lot of BAD RHD swaps, so just be wary.

Thanks guys you have been very helpful. I mostly want to sell it shortly after, so I'm basically asking how easy it would be to convince someone else that this car is worth taking off my hands. Example, if my car is worth 11k open market and his 12k while being fairly easy to sell than I would maybe take it and then flip it for a car worth 8gs and pocket 4gs. Hope you get what I'm saying. It would be cool to drive something like this but for a short period of time.

I honestly think you can find a better one for the money... I mean it is nice...but with that much power? And he didnt list any motor work (that we know of) He may have a big turbo on a stock motor, and something is just ready to break... If i were you i would find a nice clean S14 and do a swap yourself, or try to find one thats been professionally swapped, and has all papers and repciets to prove the work!

^Agree, it may have been done sloppy. You want a car that was done right. Find out if there are pictures.
