Of the two which car would you rather have.

1. A 240sx (S13 or S14) with SR. with few mods, like FMIC, full exhaust, fuel pump, clutch, flywheel, boost controler, short shifter, aluminon raditor etc. With mild suspension upgrades. Good tires and brakes. New paint job so the car basiclly looks new, clean interior a decent stero (I'm not talking about 2 12", but just like quality speakers).

2. A 2000ish BMW 3 Series. Stock

So which would you rather have?

it depends.

I'd choke myself if i wrecked a nice bmw. Especially doing something stupid like racing or trying to drift. I could (almost) care less about my $3k KBB valued econo-hatch

It's really two very different types of cars that your looking at. If you want straight performance, go with the 240SX (as long as it's in good shape).

If you want a nice interior, lack of rattles and some refinement then go with the 240SX.

Personally, I'm not a big fan of the exterior of the 3-series but if you drive it and like it, go with it.

If this is purely hypothetical, for myself I'd go with 240SX every time unless the BMW was an E30 M3. Otherwise, I'm not old enough or enough of prick to drive a 3 series. j/k

if i wasnt paying for them.. id take the BMW, sell it and buy a 240sx.

I would never see myself in a BMW, bc im too poor and cant afford it. and I really dont like the Bimmer that muhc, except the M3.

I'd probably go with the 240sx, unless the BMW was an E36 318ti with a Euro-spec M3 engine, California top, Hamann aero-stuff, Hamann wheels, Bilstein coilovers, and a hot chick in the passenger seat. Then, I'd definetly choose the BMW over the 240sx...

I voted for the Nissan. The Bimmer may have a better fit and finish, and a fine engine. But reliability for the chassis ain't like a Nissan, ,plus parts are very very pricey.

I actually really like the E30 M3s. Just too damn expensive for a used car, for me at least.

I love the E30 M3. I was driving behind one on my way to my bf's house yesterday, red, exhaust, some old dude driving it like a show-off. Sounded a lot like my car from behind (since the e30 m3's have 4cyl's)

cool. you should have smoked him lol.

I rememebr vividly the day me and my friend were shooting one of our little action movies when a black m3 comes shooting down my corner and does a powerslide through a side corner. I always wanted to try that....need a RWD car... my friend was so awe-struck he didn't catch it on film....I tell ya

3 series. All around a better car. Read that again. I never said faster or more fun to drive, but it is a BMW so it will be spirited to drive. Way more reliable than the S13 as well. Better to pick up chicks in a Bimmer anyway.

E30 M3. I love my S14, but there is something to love about a refined car that's uber comfortable and still whoops most other cars on the road and track. Really, I'd love to have my S14 as a track car and an E30 as a daily driver.

Actually, I want to change my vote. I'd take the 3 series, keep it for a year or two (once you take it off the lot it's considered used anyways and deflates by a ridiculous amount). Then I'd sell it off and buy a S13 coupe, S13 hatch, S14 zenki, S14 kouki. And would still have money left over to pay insurance on all them for a year and mod them a bit.

definately 240 over a stock 3 series, but i think most people are agreeing this unless it's an m3. very few cars can touch that in performance (handling , all around ride, fun to drive), chick magnetism, and looks (those 2 sets of twin pipes with the wide wheels in back are sexy) for under 100 g's
