I was at canadian tire today and there's a lot of stuff there to buy for my car....

engine shampoooctane boostinjector cleanerengine treatmentetc.

My question is, what stuff do you guys on a regular basis? I'd like to run some stuff through my engine to restore some lost power and increase gas mileage. Thanks.

No way buddy, i've been at home (not literally) since i got back from Calgary on july 19th. I'm taking my first year university.... classes started September 3rd so that's why i'm not online as much anymore. If you're ever on AIM message me (blink0rsaves), i haven't talked to ya in a while!

Says to use "Sea Foam" i haven't done it yet, but i bring up the product and everyone goes off the wall about how their cars "run like a dream" after using it. Here is the website. http://www.seafoamsales.com/motortuneuptechgas.htm

You can get it at your local autoparts store. For me it's NAPA or Schucks.

Imma try it this weekend, and i'll tell u if it really works. But make sure to read about changin 02 sensors... and shait on the site.

oh yeah, and engine treatment and shampoo is kind of an option. it cleans it (of course), but im pretty sure thats all it does. maybe theres a few pros to having a cleaner engine, but im un-aware of them. i just use basic canadian tire brand for that.

what were you up in calgary for? thats my city! except im in lethbridge now for university :(

I personally wouldn't use any of that engine additive treatment crap in my motor, unless it was absolutely neccessary (like the stop smoke junk). I've heard nothing but nightmares about those engine additive stuff. I think its because they contain crap that shouldn't be in your motor in the long run, like teflon and stuff. I used this stuffon my '83 626 to prevent the smoke screen I was leaving to get worse. It really did stop the white smoke, but that was a $400 pos anyway, I could care less if it blew up.

Fuel injector cleaner (goes into the gas tank) I use every 10000km. I go to walmart and pick up a 3 pack of stp for under $10. Stuff works great and is actually recomended by most dealers. Don't expect a big gain in power or fuel economy, but it does help.

I used this engine shampoo that was a GM brand (I work for GM). For some reason, my engine seemed quieter and smoother, but I may just be tripping. Engine shampoo is usually done with a tune up, so I can't see it hurting, unless it is done incorrectly (cover ALL sensors).

Octane boost, waste of cash IMO. Unless you run regular gas, 87, and add +7 octane boost to give you 94 octane, it may be cheaper than filling up on premium at sunoco, but I haven't done the math, so I'm not sure, wouldn't bother though, unless you want to run 102 octane?

oh, walmart has most of the stuff crappy tires has, but for alot cheaper, check it out!!! And please don't buy those license plate covers with the gold chains that go around it, with matching wiper blades!!!

:D, just playin

+7 octane boost adds .7 octane. If you use 87 it makes it 87.7, altogether worthless. The only useful things are premixing stuff like toluene, that actually raises your octane. : ) Enjoy your day.

Also, seafoam is an excellent product, however it can cause engine problems. It breaks down all the carbon and other gunk in your engine, however, if you engine has leaks in the seals or what not, that carbon might be the only thing keeping them plugged. : ) So while your engine will technically be in better shape, it may seem in worse because you're drawing attention to problems that need fixing that you didn't know about. Have fun guys.
