which bumper is which? buyin a s13 in 24hrs

i found this 240sx fastback forsale today....talked to the guy he said it was a 93...i checked the title and it says 93 also...under the hood was a twin cam(91-93?) but the thing that threw me off was the bumper...it was sharp looking and 2 vents in front where the hood meets up witht he bumper...the big grill where the intercooler goes has a line dividing the grill area....can someone clear this up for me? maybe post pixs of the two different bumper styles and which yr is which...

Why are you worrying about the bumper? Plus, if you claim that it has an intercooler, which means it is either a turbo KA or SR, and the list goes on. If you just getting this car and not knowing what its capabilities, please don't buy it.

you don';t understand...people like you chase others away...what i was trying to say is which bumper comes on the 93 fastbacks? and no it does not have an intercooler...i said the area where it suspose to go...aka the air dam...yes i know what its capable of...

89-90 240sx had the pig nose (the two vents in front) bumpers, they were also SOHC, the 91-94 had the smoother front bumper, no two holes, also they had the DOHC KA. Also on the speedometer i believe that the 89-90 the mph was in 5 i.e 5,15,25,35 where the 91-94 they were 10s i.e 10,20,30,40. If the title says 93, and it has a DOHC motor then it probobly is a 93, however if it has the pig nose bumper it might have been in an accident before, and instead of putting on a 91-94 bumper they just put the pig nose one on. My advice is get the VIN and run a carfax report.

ok i think i have good news...it is a 93 se model...i checked with carfax...its been in one minor accdent...the owner replaced with 89 90 front bumper i guess...it fits fine...should i worry but the minor accident?

If he didnt tell you about the accident untill you ran the carfax and confronted him I would be a little suspicious. Be sure to check for frame rust/damage and all that good stuff.

he didn;t tell me...ima ask him tomorrow...ima drive it to my house and put it up in jackstand and take off the bumper...thanks for the tips...anymore would help...what should i look for?

my first 240 had front end damage, I suggest looking to see if the radiator support is straight and good, and the light supports. On mine the support for the passenger side pop up light motor was bent where it was hit, and I couldnt replace the motor without a welding torch becase the screws where all bent in the threads and rusted shut, so that was a big hassle, you shoudlnt NEED to take the bumper off, but it wont hurt, see what you can see. But you should be able to check for frame damge by popping hte hood. Another place to look would be along the side walls where the hood rests, see if there is any buckling, which would indicate more then a minor accident. If nothing else, get a better price since it was in an accident and act worried about the frame being ok and all.

thanks for all the help...i'm calling him now to see if he would let me drive it to my house and inspect it more...its a SE model...how do i know it has abs? dash indicator would be good huh? i want to see if it has a lsd and stuff...jack up the rear end and spin the tire?

Is it a Super HICAS model? If not you don't have an LSD unless its aftermarket. Super HICAS is indicated by a small sticker on the quarter panel that says: "Super HICAS" (duh). There are also some extra parts in the engine bay that would be an indicator, but I don't know enough about them to tell you what they are.

no rust under...but its been repainted...so no sticker...tomorrow morning i'll have a 240...just need to replace the windshield...how much do those go for?

Went to nolarides and did register. My name on that is 67GTO. My 240 is my daily driver and the GOAT is on nice days and cruise nights. Maybe you have seen my cars around the lake. I live in Old Metairie and parents live in lake Vista and I always take the lake when I visit and also just to ride around the lakefront. I just got back my 240sx because some idiot ran into the back of it on Christmas Eve. It was totaled and I had to come out of pocket to fix it. I will post some fixed pictures soon. LATER Peabody
